NillRestaurant Review: Firstly, everything was significantly delayed, with only one staff member handling both orders and deliveries, which affected the overall service quality. There were delays at every stage — taking the initial order, placing additional orders, asking for the bill, and even receiving the change. They clearly need to have more staff. The main course was decent, but the dessert was disappointing. It was a fruit salad with ice cream, but there was barely any ice cream, and all the fruits were bad and sour

NillI spent one night at Hotel Ambadi, designed by the renowned architect Laurie Baker, stands out with its beautiful heritage-style architecture. The traditional charm of the structure is truly admirable. However, I felt a bit sad to see that the property is not being well-maintained. The heritage-style rooms have a unique feel, but they lack some basic amenities. There was only one plug point in the room, no chairs provided, and the bathroom fittings were not functioning properly. Also, there was no coffee kettle or complimentary tea/coffee in the room — adding these would really enhance the experience. On the positive side, the location is excellent — very close to the Periyar Tiger Reserve and boating area. The restaurant serves very tasty food, and the service is commendable. A special mention to Mr. Prashant, who served us with great manners and professionalism. All the staff members were very cooperative and helpful. The hotel is also child-friendly and offers ample parking space, which is a big plus for families. With some improvements in room maintenance and amenities, this place can truly offer a complete and memorable heritage stay.

NillOne of the oldest hotels of Thekkady (50 years by information), Classy and Heritage property. So good rooms with a feeling of vintage. And very good cooperation received from hotel authorities. Overall great and awesome experience. Due to many new hotels this hotel is not receiving the amount of guests it should, cause it's old. But the old architecture is so good, it's totally worth it, and it's quite cheap compared to the class of hotel it is.

★Don't be misled by the pictures. These may be old pictures. The room was small and smelled of dampness. The floor were not cleaned for a long time and was sticky. There was one small wooden almira for storage. The bathroom walls and roof was full of seepage. It smelled really bad due to no cleaning or maintenance. The walls were old and slimy. The bucket was soiled and we were shocked to see muddy turbid water from the taps. There was a bath tub that was old and dirty. No running hot water. If you needed, you have to call some number from your mobile. Obviously no intercom. Just one charging point. There was a TV. Didn't check if it worked, because we could hardly stay in the room. It was soffocating. Lucky none of us fell sick as expected. We didn't dare to taste the food. Won't recommend this place to any one even if it's for free.

NillGood value for money hotel. Hotel is in a good location with ample parking space. The hotel has an in-house restaurant with decent food at a reasonable price. Rooms are quite and the caretakers are helpful. No in room service. Rooms are at a distance from reception and there is no phone in the room. Rooms are old and don't have windows. During our stay, Hot water was not available so the caretaker had to provide buckets with hot water for the bath.

NillHere is my thoughts about our stay at Hotel Ambadi - Thekkady. Thanks to hotel manager for letting us to do early check-in as per our request. 1. Location Located close to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which makes it ideal for nature lovers. Nearby shops, eateries, and tourist attractions are within walking distance. Quiet and serene environment despite being near a popular tourist spot. 2. Ambiance and Architecture Traditional Kerala architecture, with wooden décor and rustic charm. Designed by renowned architect Laurie Baker, known for eco-friendly and sustainable designs. The ambiance reflects the local culture and heritage, giving guests an authentic experience. 3. Rooms Spacious rooms with basic amenities and traditional decor. No AC in some rooms, which could be uncomfortable during warmer months. Clean and well-maintained, but some rooms might feel a bit outdated. Some rooms offer beautiful views of the surrounding greenery. 4. Food and Dining The in-house restaurant serves local Kerala cuisine as well as North Indian and Continental options. The food quality is generally good, though some guests find it on the pricier side. Breakfast options are somewhat limited, but the food is freshly prepared. Friendly service from restaurant staff. 5. Service and Staff Courteous and helpful staff, often going out of their way to assist guests. Some guests have noted slow service, particularly during peak times. Housekeeping is prompt, but occasional delays can occur with requests. 6. Facilities Limited amenities; the hotel does not offer a pool, spa, or other luxury facilities. Basic facilities are well-maintained, though some may find them too minimalistic. Ideal for travelers seeking a simple, peaceful stay rather than a full resort experience. 7. Value for Money Reasonably priced for budget-conscious travelers, especially given the location and ambiance. Some guests feel it could offer more amenities for the price. 8. Overall Experience Great for travelers seeking a quiet, culturally rich stay close to nature. Not suited for those looking for high-end amenities or luxury experiences. Best suited for couples, families, and solo travelers who appreciate simplicity and cultural architecture.

On the outskirts of Periyar National Park, this rustic hotel is an 8-minute walk from the Mudra Cultural Centre and 15 km from hiking and birdwatching in Chellarcovil.,Accommodations range from rooms to duplexes with wooden staircases. There are also detached cottages. All come with tile or wood floors and en suite bathrooms; some have furnished balconies. There are no TVs and no air-conditioning. Children age 4 and under stay free with adults.,A casual restaurant, with exposed brick walls, serves varied cuisine. Walking tours and jeep safaris can be arranged by request.
