Mummy Bamboo House

We stayed at the mummy bamboo house for 3 nights and had a lovely stay. The room was very clean and perfect distance to the restaurants and beach. Rani was very helpful and arranged a tuk tuk to take us to the station on our last morning. ||We stayed in a non ac room and the fan was good but when it was very hot it was a bit of a struggle. A mosquito net on the door to the balcony would have been great so that we could have let some air in. With all the mosquitos we didn't want to leave the door open and so the room did get a bit stuffy. ||Apart from this we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!

Excellent Choice in Budget. A Double Bed room fits max 3 person. Room and bathroom were clean. Sit out, balcony, rope hang, mosquito net is there. Tap Water quality is extraordinary. Couple Friendly. Pleasant Location. Walkable Distance to Cliff Beach. They provide Rental Bikes also. Car and bike parking available. Small provision store with tea is nearby. Hotel is nearby 500m. Cockroaches in the room, VERY dishonest hosts (don't book transport with them- don't trust them) and mouldy pillows. Concrete wall as view. For reference, we book the most expensive a/c room that they offer thinking it would be the nicest. When you tell the hosts about the cockroaches and pillows they laugh on your face about it and they do nothing- great way of saying they don't care. They also kept asking if we wanted a tuk tuk/ taxi and when we said yes on the last day to go to the train station (3.1km) they asked for 100 Rs for a trip that had costed us the day before 50rs however they assured it was a big tuk tuk and better to carry our luggage- we thought it would be easier on the last day to have a bigger tuk tuk so we agreed to it. The tuk tuk arrived there late and we were stopped by the host to leave and look for other one saying it was coming (we needed to get a train so we were tight on time). When it arrived, it was a small tuk tuk and the tuk tuk driver wanted to charge 150rs- host instead of saying that they had agreed a price with us started laughing with the driver and pressured us again to go with 150rs- obviously we didn't accept. Such a sour experience where you realise the hosts only care about about getting as much as possible from you and don't care at all about the fact that higienic conditions are non-existent, pillows are literally black from mould, cockroaches are running everywhere. Very dishonest and dirty experience. Even if cheap, it is not worth it, look around for other accommodation. Talking to other guests from other homestays around they sounded much nicer for similar price.

The rooms are cheap, simple, nice and clean. I spent 3 nights in this homestay and enjoyed sitting on the veranda. It is located 2 minutes walk from the cliff, which is perfect to reach everything.||The hosts are very friendly and I had lots of good chats with them!

I've stayed twice at Mummy Bamboo House, and both times it was home to my best memories of India. The whole family is kind and generous, and the rooms are lovely, with great balconies, and close proximity to everything. Make sure you enjoy the foot. Fish curry that will blow you away and delightful coconut pancakes for breakfast. Mummy and her whole family are the best! I'll be back!

Rani runs a lovely homey place. Rooms are super clean and only a minute's walk to the cliff and beach. Plenty of gorgeous cafes and places to shop on the cliff. Because it is located in one of small alleys, you can also choose to escape to your hammock and chill away from the bustle if you so please. Highly recommended.

Stayed 4 nights in a fan room on the second floor. Loved my balcony and hammock. The hot water didn't work the first two days for some reason, but the last two days. At the end off the north cliff, with a perfect location just a few steps to some off the stairs leading down to the beach and the restaurants on the cliff.||Possibility to order food/drinks and more than 1 speed on the fan would had been a plus, but a small thing in the big pic.

Very good location - and very good value for money! Rooms are small, but one only sleeps there anyway! There are rooms on the botton floor with outdorr seating 'terraces', and on second floor theer are a couple of rooms with balconies. ||This was my second stay at Mummys, and I'll definately come back!
