Hotel Kalinga

The rooms are very small, very slow service, they want you to leave as soon as you can. People praise it for its location but in reality the beach might look close on Google maps but it's a 1-2km drive to reach the proper beach. And for the Temple it is the furthest hotel you can get from it. My college Hostel was better than this hotel.

The price is unnecessarily too high. The breakfast includes nothing. I think they can provide better service for what they have been charging. Completely disappointing.🙁

My stay at Hotel Kalinga had both positives and negatives. I deducted one star because, despite requesting room cleaning, no service was provided. There was also an electricity issue, which cost the hotel another half star. One receptionist was friendly, but the other failed to prioritize my room cleaning request, resulting in another star deduction. On the bright side, the environment was peaceful and the food was slightly above average, which made the stay more pleasant. Overall, the hotel has potential, but the lack of service needs improvement.

They don't refund on cancellation even on medical emergency and producing proof of it. Even make my trip doesn't help in refund...

The room was surprisingly spacious and clean, but the dampness due to the rainy season made it a bit stuffy. The basic amenities like warm and cold water, shampoo, soap, and towels were provided. However, the biggest issue was the inconsiderate guests in the next room. They were using the shared ventilator to dispose of tissues, which was both unsanitary and unpleasant. I suggest the hotel install a net or similar barrier to prevent such incidents. The hotel's location is convenient, with the beach just a short walk away. While it's not a popular swimming spot, you can still enjoy the sea view from a safe distance. Overall, Hotel Kalinga offers decent value for money, but the experience can be marred by unfortunate circumstances like inconsiderate guests. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option and are willing to overlook potential inconveniences, it's worth considering.

Rooms and Service are miserable. Don't book your rooms here. They charged Rs. 700 just because we damaged their bedsheet while ironing the clothes (if they had charged a fair amount it was not a problem). Food quality was also not upto the standard.

If you’re thinking about staying at this place let’s first get some of the common misconceptions out of the way…like one of them being…on google map and on booking site you’ll see it is near the beach (In reality, ~4km / 20 mins travel in auto…150/- for this one way commute to beach), on map you’ll see a beach close to this hotel but mind you this is not that part of Puri beach/ Golden beach that we commonly refer to…instead this is the Penthakata beach for the locals…if you want to you can explore this beach during day time but at night I won’t recommend it… 🍁🍁🍁 Now that the misconceptions are clear…let’s get to the review…in one word a hotel with all the modern amenities in terms of stay and ready to serve quick room service as well as a in-house restaurant makes this hotel the best option for someone who wanna spend a peaceful holiday in Puri away from the usual beach congestions… Jagannath Temple is a 20-25 mins ride from hotel in auto(auto available in front of hotel…rates negotiable with min.150/- one way)… Polite staff behaviour and a relaxing atmosphere makes it a stay of my absolute recommendation…. Cheers🎯

I visited hotel Kalinga recently for my Puri visit and I am highly satisfied and gleeful to stay there. The staff members are very polite and courteous, at the time of check in they made us feel so welcomed by their warm greetings. The bellboy helped us to reach our room and helped us with everything for our smooth stay. I literally felt nice by their warmth and gestures. Location wise too it is good, It is situated at main Chakra Tirtha road, beach is just 200 meters away, to reach temple auto or e rickshaw is always available in front of the hotel. It is just opposite Sri Jagannath Cricket Stadium which is a renowned landmark and you can reach here from anywhere without any hassle. The room was also very beautiful, it had a mini fridge also. My room had a balcony too from which the stadium was seen to its full glory. The room had a sofa too. The bathroom had a bathtub to my surprise as I have never been to any hotel which gives a bathtub at this much less price. The in hotel kitchen serves delicious food, baby corn chilli was very very delicious; rice,aloo Gobi, dal fry were good too by taste and quantity. In evening we ordered tea and french fries that too were nice. In drinks we ordered, lime soda and jaljeera. For these many food items we paid only 600rs including taxes. Water bottles were free from hotel side. My experiences were very very good with Hotel Kalinga . I am going to stay here only in my next Puri visit. I would recommend it to everyone.
