Hotel A Star - 50 Meter From Golden Temple

This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I am shocked by how poorly this establishment is managed. First, there was no intercom in one of the rooms we booked, making communication with the staff a nightmare. To make things worse, there were frequent power outages, and the hotel didn’t have a reliable power backup system. It felt like we were staying in a poorly run hostel rather than a hotel. Basic hygiene and amenities were nonexistent. The bathrooms had no towels, the soap container was empty, and nothing was provided unless explicitly asked for—multiple times. The trays and crockery were absolutely filthy, the electric kettle looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and even complimentary water bottles weren’t replenished unless we chased down the staff. And charging for a dental kit? That’s just ridiculous for a hotel claiming to offer quality service. The dining service was equally abysmal. The food was served on dirty trays that looked like the ones from the stone age, and the staff didn’t bother getting the bills signed during room service. This led to incorrect billing during checkout, adding further frustration to an already miserable stay. The reception staff were beyond rude and unprofessional. They lacked even the most basic manners and hospitality skills. They didn’t answer calls from the rooms, leaving us stranded whenever we needed help. The only redeeming factor was the hotel’s close proximity to the Golden Temple, but even that is not worth enduring such horrible service and poor standards. I strongly urge anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and disappointment. This place should not even call itself a hotel.

To begin with they have falsely stated the hotel is 50 meters from the golden temple. It is situated in a very narrow and dirty alley about half km from the golden temple. The rooms are cold and dilapidated. The towels and linen was in a very bad shape. The toilet seat was broken and I found it very difficult to sit on it. When I asked for a room heater, I was told it will be chargeable. So I immediately booked another hotel nearby and checked out. At this point the receptionist said I will provide you the heater but it was too late as I had already paid for the other place which was in a much better location. I would advise stay away from this place. I have given one star because the lady realised her mistake and offered me the heater although it was too late.

While the hotel is indeed close to the Golden Temple, it is located in a narrow and dirty alley, which makes access inconvenient. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was disappointing. The rooms were in poor condition, with worn-out towels and bed linen. The toilet seat was broken, making it very uncomfortable to use. I would not recommend staying here.

Boy at the counter on 16th Jan 2025 8.30pm was dishonest and rude. He wanted 500 rupees to provide a heater for the room. I find it hard to believe a hotel would have a policy like that. He also said the central heating doesn't work (it was 6 degrees outside). Management please confirm these are your policies, or speak to your staff. The other staff were polite and respectful - there is an issue only with the one boy at the reception on 16th Jan 8.30pm.

Checked out today 19 december 2024 after 3 nights spent, location is very nice walking distance from golden temple. Easily rikshaw available at doorstep of hotel. Staff and reception very nice people. Fresh towel, water bottles, soap dispensers, clean room, wifi, lift all was provided and we slept like babies. Inhouse restaurant available which was great food. Positive vibes in the hotel and the reception will assist you at any information about the surrounding places where to visit as recomendation. Will definitely recommend and stay again when when we visit amritsar again. 🇮🇳🇲🇺🌹🙏

A stay you won't regret Awesome place to stay with family and couples that too with budget.. Just a lane away from market yet quite place..2 mins walking from golden temple Staff is really good .. We stayed for 3 days & it was very comfortable..
