OYO Hotel Lamaz Residency

We were traveling as a group - three families and kids - and stayed at Lamaz Residency, Gangtok for 4 nights in March, 2016, We had done the booking through Binita Lama, and she arranged the entire travel itinerary during our week long stay in Sikkim - including the stay at Gangtok, local sightseeing at Gangtok and 2N/3D North Sikkim tour (covering accommodation and sightseeing at Lachung, Lachen including Snowpoint and Gurdongmar lake) ||||Lamaz residency can be termed as a decent (no frills) hotel with good rooms - you get what you pay for. It is about 10-15 min walk to MG Marg which is the main shopping district of Gangtok. There is nothing fancy or out of the world with the rooms - but the excellent behavior and treatment by the staff more than makes up for that. The super deluxe rooms in the third floor are much better compared to the deluxe rooms in the 1st floor. One main problem we faced was the lack of health faucets in the bathroom - the kids also found a bit difficult due to the absence of hot water (there were intermittent power outages). But, one highlight is the support that the entire hotel staff gave us whenever we had any requests/issues. Binita herself was always available for help and giving tips - that is a big plus. ||||There is a restaurant at the top floor - and if you are a reasonably big group, it is better to order the food well in advance. The food is good, no complaints on that. ||||The tour arrangements were spot on, and the hotel bookings made at Lachen and Lachung were also very good. We knew that they are remote places, and hence the expectations were very low. But, the hotels at both the places were very reasonably priced, the food was also very good and the staff were just great. ||||The transportation arrangement was also very good. One thing we are very weary is regarding the behavior of drivers of local taxis - and Binita made sure that her private driver came along with us. ||||Overall, it was a very good experience. Would rate 3/5 for the rooms and accommodation at Lamaz residency (Gangtok), and 5/5 for the transportation arrangements and the hotels at Lachung/Lachen.

OMG ! The Management deserves a negetive rating . Honestly never experienced such an awful stay in Gangtok previously . All the management staffs remains drunk . No housekeeping , No room service , nothing . Thousands of issues , zero solution. Infact the conducted tour booking was just a filthy lie. The overall property is not bad , requires some disciplined and willing management . Don't go for 5/5 ratings placed earlier 3/4years ago . If you don't want to suffer with your family and spoil your tour just don't go there .

We loved our stay at Lamaz Residency. The hotel is situated at Development Area, away from the hustle bustle of M. G. Marg. The property, rooms and washrooms were really spacious, clean and well maintained. A 3* hotel with all the amenities and nice decor! Mr. and Mrs. Lama the owner and the staffs were really very humble, friendly, co-operating, always smiling and very helpful. They have their in-house restaurant and bar at rooftop from where you can get a great view of the town. We chose to have dinner at the hotel only during our stay and the food was really finger-licking and delicious. I'd really recommend staying at Lamaz Residency while in Gangtok.!

Nice and comfortable place to stay. Very friendly staff. Always ready to help with anything. The view from the cafe is beautiful. No complaints on the food. Served fresh and warm on all days. The menu is simple and the food tastes good. We had problems with the room initially. The door lock was jammed and a window wouldn't shut properly. The management is aware of it and said they will make arrangements to repair it. But other than that it was a very pleasant experience. We will definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to visit Sikkim.

Staying at lamaz residency was a pleasant experience.Strongly recommend this hotel for any body or any one visiting Gangtok No hassle while check in or out. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel is excellent and especially the view from the rooftop restaurant is awesome. Rooms are neat and clean. Food served in this hotel from break fast to dinner was excellent.

We had booked this hotel from make my trip because the price was really good. But the overall experience was not up to the mark. The rooms were OK but the services and the food was very casual. So we decided not to choose this place again. Over all it was decent stay.

Fantastic place! Located about 2 KM's from mg Marg in a peaceful location. We walked every day from mg road till here, the route is lovely, saw Kanchenjunga mountains and great valley right outside the window. The breakfast served was good as well. Its more of a do-it-yourself hotel, if you're coming late make sure to lock the front gate, the owner though stays on top, but there's no one at the reception, however always available on call. So it your fine with it, it's a great place to stay. The view is absolutely amazing from here, cannot miss it.

Nice hotel good ambiance. food served was excellent. view from the roof top restaurant was superb. Recommended for couple visiting gangtok. Over all staying at Hotel Lama Residency was satisfactory and would stay here in future while visiting Gangtok next time.
