Hotel Chakrah by Hermitage

Don’t know why people rate this place so well maybe because it’s mostly Indian guests. First of all the staff is super cold, didn’t receive a single smile in one week staying there. It feels like those typical Indian places where the owner doesn’t run the place cause there is no engagement, no love for the detail, no drive for improvement. The pictures on booking are fake. There is not one single plant in the building and the ones on the rooftop are dying. No wooden furniture as well. Warm water didn’t work in the private rooms of my friends. When I entered the dorm it looked like a battle field despite it was already empty and it was 2 pm, they have Checkin by 12. 2 days later there was some electrician work going on and they did not clean up the mess in the dorm only after my notice. My bed in the dorm was super noise because of the unstable construction. Luckily I was the only one for most of my stay. The doors are not sealed well, it’s noisy and you hear the road especially at the street faced rooms. One night at 1 am some Indian guys were testing the noisiness of their motorcycle exhausts for an hour and I’m sure the hotel staff was involved. The place is not social at all and the rooftop is not inviting for chillout. The place would have potential but not with this management, there is no true love and engagement to create a cozy accommodation.

After a long trekking trip, I stayed at this hotel for 2 days with my friends. The rooms were clean, and the service was excellent. They even provided an extra bed, which was very helpful. The front desk manager Sunny was especially friendly, he gave us his personal number in case we had any queries or requests. Great hospitality

Booked it for my parents (along with 5 others). There was no water due to power outage , that is something understandable(atleast). Even a bucket of water was not provided immediately on request, service is too bad. To add on, they had the audacity to knock on the doors at 10:00 in the night to ask to change the room(which is already booked early on and already checked in). This is too unprofessional and unfair.

Our room was tiny, and the photos shared were misleading. The location was decent, but public transportation was scarce. Room service was non-existent, telecom wasn't working, and the reception was often unstaffed. To make matters worse, there was no lift, and the cleanliness was severely lacking.

Chakrah by Hermitage is a lovely place to stay in Rishikesh. The showers are hot, the rooftop dining area is refreshing, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. They even let me prepare my own instant oats every morning — a gesture that made me feel at home. The location is convenient, near the SBI ATM, which all the Tuktuk drivers know — a big bonus for getting back after a day of exploring. The staff also shared helpful tips on how to reach nearby spots cheaply by bus. Cleanliness was great, especially in the rooms closer to the street, which seemed to get more sunlight and airflow. The WIFI was reliable, and the whole place had a peaceful, welcoming vibe. My only small complaint is that they ran out of napkins for a few days, but it didn’t take away from the experience. Overall, a wonderful stay and great value, especially in the slower winter season. Bahut dhanyavaad Ravi, Pratik, and the whole team!

Nice stay. Quiet area. Private room with balcony for very good price. Clean room, bathroom needs better cleaning and some renovation. No food available as the chef was sick. Good restaurants and cafe nearby.
