长城之家

We clearly visited during the 'off season' and we're apparently the only guests. Staff were there to meet our taxi after the driver shook his head in disapproval as his crappy cab struggled to drive of the very steep driveway. The staff spoke no English but we're able to communicate they took cash only. We didn't have enough so one staff offered to take my husband down to a local restaurant to pay credit card. Our room was a beautiful, rustic, rock lodge! It included a kitchen, although were were really no where near a supermarket. This place is isolated!! Bring food and beer. They did prepare us dinner in their kitchen and brought it to our room the 2 nights we were there (I don't think the restaurant was open- the heat was off). We over paid the taxi driver to take us to the Wall (100 yuan). He waited for us (said we'd only need a couple hours...we could have stayed for several more). When we met him after we told him we'd walk back. It's definitely doable.... if you attempt to to walk to the Wall, walk down the long 'drive way' and hand a right...the tickets office is just past the round about. There you can get a shuttle to the cable cars.|Overall, a good comfortable stay...just be sure to bring your own drinks and food!!

我们显然是在“淡季”期间来的，而且我们显然是唯一的客人。司机摇着头表示不满，因为他那辆蹩脚的出租车艰难地驶过非常陡峭的车道，工作人员在那里迎接我们的出租车。工作人员不会说英语，但我们可以沟通他们只收现金。我们没有足够的钱，所以一名工作人员提出带我丈夫去当地一家餐馆支付信用卡。我们的房间是一个美丽、质朴的岩石小屋！它包括一个厨房，虽然离超市真的很远。这个地方很偏僻！！带上食物和啤酒。他们确实在厨房里为我们准备了晚餐，并在我们在那里的两个晚上把它带到了我们的房间（我认为餐厅没有营业——暖气已经关了）。 我们多付了出租车司机送我们去长城的费用（100元）。他等了我们（说我们只需要几个小时......我们本来可以多呆几个小时）。当我们见到他时，我们告诉他我们会走回去。这绝对是可行的……如果您尝试步行到隔离墙，请沿着长长的“车道”步行，然后右转……售票处就在环岛后面。在那里您可以乘坐班车前往缆车。|总的来说，这是一次舒适的住宿...只是一定要带上自己的饮料和食物！

Lovely views from the room with very private balcony overlooking the Great Wall. A pool on our balcony meant we could sunbathe and cool off in the water. Great breakfast of porridge, eggs, bao and then greens/cucumber. On the second morning we had noodles too. We had the place to ourselves. Very friendly staff who tried to help us all the time. Evening meal was excellent with chicken, fried rice, salads and greens. Lots of beer and wine options.|This hotel would be best for car owners or for car-with-driver options. The hotel is situated at the top of a very steep hill!!

房间的景色很美，有一个非常私人的阳台，可以俯瞰长城。我们阳台上的游泳池意味着我们可以在水中享受日光浴和纳凉。早餐很棒，有粥、鸡蛋、包子，还有蔬菜/黄瓜。第二天早上我们也吃了面条。我们有自己的地方。非常友好的工作人员一直试图帮助我们。晚餐很棒，有鸡肉、炒饭、沙拉和蔬菜。有很多啤酒和葡萄酒可供选择。|这家酒店最适合有车主或有司机的汽车选择。酒店坐落在一座非常陡峭的山顶上！

We stayed as a family of four in a villa. The room was very dated and not very clean. The pipes leaked all over the floor from the kitchen sink and the bathrooms sent out a constant aroma of sewage. We paid over 5500 rmb for a two night stay and feel that this was extremely over priced. We will not be staying again due to these factors. Ending on a positive the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good, such a shame about the room 😞

我们一家四口住在一栋别墅里。房间很陈旧而且不是很干净。厨房水槽里的水管漏得满地都是，浴室里不断散发着污水的气味。我们花了 5500 多人民币住了两晚，感觉这个价格太贵了。由于这些因素，我们不会再入住。从积极的方面来说，工作人员非常友好和乐于助人，食物也很好，但房间太可惜了😞

We liked Home of the Great Wall a lot. It felt like a lodge with a view to the great wall. Staff was great. Especially Johnny was extremely friendly and supportive. Although we wee very late he made us some dinner and brought it to our appartment. In the next morning they brought us to the great wall early so that we had the wall all for ourselves for two hours. We could keep the room with no time limit so that after return in the afternoon we could shower, change, warm up and rest. Then Johnny organized our individual trip to the Ming tombs. We are convinced it was the right decision to stay onne night near the great wall and would definitely come back.

Nice views, but not worth half of the price. We booked the pet friendly double room villa for 3000 rmb. Unfortunately our villa was dirty along with the villas pool. There were bugs in one of the beds (a couple of centipede's - one alive and one dead) as well as flying insects. The bathroom smelled of mildew and the toilet paper needed changing on arrival. Tissues had been replaced refilled with paper hand towels instead. There was no tea, coffee or water in the room. The fridge had to be plugged in at the wall. The kitchenette and utensils were dirty along with the pots and pans. ||All of this could potentially be forgiven had the price been half of what we actually paid for the room. It's feels like we fell for false advertising. The quality of the room, and the quality of the service don't match the price.

Decided to stay here based on proximity to GW so we could get up the wall early. It would have been smarter to stay in Beijing and charter a car in the early morning or join a tour. The hotel is at the top of a 1km, extremely steep driveway. To get to the entrance to the wall it's about 2km by foot from the hotel. When returning, you have to climb back up the driveway, which has sections as steep as anything on the wall.||||The room aesthetic is nice, but the beds are hard and the furniture in different states of decay. We came during summer - very hot outside, but the A/C in the room worked well (on the other hand, the bathroom was like a sauna) .||||I definitely overpaid for the experience - over $200 US for the night. Then the cost of getting transport at another US$200 RT to Beijing. I feared the traffic in Beijing and figured this was a way around it, but we caught traffic all the same when returning mid-day. If you can get a day tour to the Mutianyu wall for less than US250 a head, it's probably worth it.||||The skeleton crew service was OK. The man and woman who attend to the place are kind of hard to find, but friendly and responsive considering my broken chinese. Minimal help in english. ||||I don't understand many of the positive reviews posted about this place. It's certainly rustic, but at the price of a top class Beijing Hotel, it comes nowhere close.||||It would be a significant improvement if the hotel shuttled guests back and forth to the GW entrance in the back of the facility motorized tricycle (that would be fun, too). ||||If you're visiting the Great Wall, find another way.

I arrived there on a Saturday evening, to find out that I was the only guest (very cold). Communication was limited, but they cooked me some dinner (same price as in US). ||Accomodation was spacious and fairly vomfortable. I had opted for a balcony room and the view in the morning was nice. The room was equipped with a kitchen (no use for me) and I would have hopped with a few tea bags to be there (nice touch) but they weren't.||I had to walk to the Wall Shuttle terminal (steep on the way back) but that could be explained by the fact that I was the only guest in low season.||A great plus was the fact that I could organize my pick up from the airport with the hotel.

We booked one of the villas for a week over Christmas, and were very disappointed. First and foremost, we arrived on a very cold December 23rd, and the heat had not been turned on. Since the main heating source is radiant floor heating, it takes a long time to warm up. Despite burning all the firewood we had purchased the first afternoon/evening, we could not get the place above 14-degrees and it fell to below 10-degrees overnight. The next day we requested heaters and were provided with three. Even with these three radiators, it took another 36 hours to get the place to a livable temperature. ||||Promised internet was not working when we arrived and it took 2 days to get it fixed. Getting it fixed involved having two to four workers traipsing in and out of the house most of Christmas Day. We could not even go out for a walk as apparently we were the only people with a key to let workers in.||||The write up described a full kitchen - that is a joke. It is barely a kitchenette. The one sharp knife provided, could not cut bread. The oven is a small convection/microwave with Chinese buttons and no instructions. It certainly is not an appliance that you can cook a Christmas duck in! The bath and shower products were individual packages of disgusting-smelling shampoo and bath foam thrown on the window sill in the bathroom. The bathroom, while the warmest place in the house, smells of sewage. The cleaning service involves some ineffectual sweeping, mopping with a mop that appears to have been used for several years now and changing the towels. Dishes were not washed, bathroom was not cleaned.||||When we suggested that we be reimbursed for the two days that we froze, we were flatly turned down. Further we were charged for more firewood, despite having used our first load in a vain effort to be warm the first night.||||This is an expensive place to stay and there is absolutely no value for the money. For these prices you should get much, much more.
