Douglas Headwater Campgrounds

Beautiful campground with friendly staff. Out of the traffic but close to everything. As a TVA campground, the rates are typical government rates (cheap). Dog friendly and easy walking areas. Water and electric only, but there is a dump station. They have a honey wagon service for only $20.

Nice and clean. Host and staff very nice and helpful I rate campground a five star it's a great place to camp and host and staff are great it's a beautiful place bathrooms showers stay clean it's a wonderful place

August 2024, we stayed 3 night in the campground. Very nice and professional camp host. Well maintained with water and electricity hook-ups. The restrooms had one shower stall in the men's and women's bathroom. The swimming area was nice, warm, however, extremely crowded on the weekend. If you have a boat and/or enjoy fishing this lake is for you and family. The store is small with the basics. Yummy soft ice cream 🍦 in the store.

We camped in site 18 at Douglas Headwater campground, and it was absolutely fantastic. The bath houses are dated, but they are cleaned twice a day. The hosts and camp staff do a phenomenal job keeping everything there organized and clean. We will definitely return. I also gave rooms 5stars in leu of our campsite, which was wonderful. We can’t wait to return to this beautiful place.

We have always loved Douglas Headwaters, it's my favorite. The views are amazing. However, this trip we noticed a few things that seem to have been let go. The grass had grown up behind sites 49, 50 at the water edge. We love walking down there and putting our chairs to watch the water. Also, the restrooms/bathhouse just were not clean. The ledge in the women's shower just needed a good wipe down, all the corners needed a wipe down, some bug spray needed to be sprayed. We are praying it was just a fluke thing this weekend.

We camp at the headwater campgrounds often and always enjoy the experience. Super clean bathrooms, well cared for camping sites, easy to get to and reasonably priced. Also quiet and peaceful. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Everything is just right for our family to enjoy.

Campground was clean. Sites were level & spacious. View of lake from our site was very nice. Bathroom closest to our designated site 02 had a steel door that would not close, so walked quite a distance to the closest bath house, which also had door issues. Bathrooms needed attention. Arrived on a Wed at 4:58 pm. Office was closed. Found our site and set up camp. Husband went to office shortly after 9am next morning to tell them we arrived & to get park pass for car. Again, no one was there. We tried again, same day, shortly after 2pm. They were closed for lunch. We gave up at that point. Left following morning after 2 day stay. Was first campgrounds we've stayed at where no one was around to greet us and answer any questions. More like a self-serve service.

Beautiful lake with gorgeous views. Perfect for kayaking and fishing. Quiet camping where we were at. Louder over by their beach area which is also open to the public. We had a nice view and water access from our waterfront spot. Only disappointment was that our friends who were on 3 other “waterfront” spots had just a path going through bushes to get to the water, but no waterview. Hopefully they will clear out some bushes or advertise water access only. We just used our spot to gather and enjoy the views. Office staff great and they have good soft serve ice cream.
