Fantastic Stay at Sourdough Sue’s – A Memorable Return Visit We recently had the pleasure of staying at Sourdough Sue’s in Seward, Alaska, for the second time—our first visit being 12 years ago. Just like our first experience, this trip did not disappoint. Staying in one of the yurts with our family was an incredible experience! The yurt was cozy, clean, and provided everything we needed for a comfortable and unique stay. It was wonderful to see that the charm and hospitality that made our first visit so memorable are still very much alive. The location is perfect for exploring Seward, with easy access to the town’s attractions and breathtaking natural beauty. We particularly appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place that maintains such high standards over the years, and Sourdough Sue’s has done just that. We highly recommend this gem in Seward and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you for another fantastic experience!

It was a week-long stay at Sourdough Sue's yurt for a fishing trip to Seward at the beginning of June'24 with my friend and my two sons. First, Sue was extremely polite while booking 30' yurt, giving some suggestions and valuable advice about fishing and other activities around Seward. Second, when we arrived, Sue and Greg, her husband appeared so friendly and helpful, that it exceeded our highest expectations. The yurt #3 we stayed in was extremely clean with no smell, it has two bedrooms, spacious bathroom, and a full size kitchen. the outdoor grill was really helpful to avoid smell inside of the yurt while frying fish. Greg was so kind to smoke some fish for us with a special alaskan recipe that we were able to bring some smoked salmon home to California. We are already thinking about visiting Seward next year, and booking all three yurts with our friends. I definitely recommend Sourdough Sue's Bear Lake Lodging.

We loved staying in Sourdough Sue’s yurt! The place was clean and comfortable and had all the conveniences we needed. What a unique and fun place to stay in the Seward area. Sue was super friendly and helpful and the property was so peaceful. The oil burning stove was a little intimidating at first (we’re city folk), but once we got it going, the room was warm and cozy. If you’re considering staying here, do it!

We were so pleased with these cute yurts. I would echo the other positive reviews. In addition, I liked tinkering with the oil room heater. Those were fun and worked well. Each yurt had a campfire ring which we also used and enjoyed. It was just a pleasant and comfortable experience. The comforters were really great. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sourdough Sue's Yurts! We staying the 2-bedroom yurt, and it was clean and secluded. The yurt had everything we needed, and was plenty spacious for four adults (two couples). Sue's communication was great from start to finish. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

I had read awesome reviews of Sue's place and we had never stayed at a yurt before so gave it a try. We loved every minute of it. Sue is lovely and helpful. Her dogs are sweet old dogs who are very friendly (we missed our dogs). There is a grill with a burner on the porch and a griddle, waffle maker and an electric induction spot in the yurt. It's a mini fridge without a real freezer to speak of so don't go crazy at the grocery store. The Safeway is less than 10 minutes away. There's a gas burning stove for heat that can heat the place up to inferno temps quickly. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there are 2 single futons and a double futon to keep the kids from fighting. The shower had good water pressure. I love that the water is ice cold from the tap (to drink) but warms up pleasantly without too much effort. The windows in the yurt velcro open or closed for temp control and there is a roof bubble that can go up. Sue has wi fi if you can't separate yourself from the real world. Your walking distance to the fish weir which was fun to go watch (and there were bear there and the salmon were running). Sue had made us muffins and left juice, coffee and tea. Really a great experience, we hope to come back!

I took my parents, aunt and uncle on a last minute trip to Seward. I have stayed with Sue before and absolutely loved it. I was thrilled to share the experience of staying in a yurt with my family! The 24' slept all 5 adults comfortably. The yurts are impeccable and very clean. Sue's blueberry banana muffins were also quite the treat for breakfast. Thanks for the stay! I'll definitely be back.
