Super 8 by Wyndham Sitka

Now the Baranof Lodge, not a Super 8. But the interior looks the same as the photos shared here from several years ago. No free breakfast, just coffee. Breakfast items available to purchase, but several good restaurants are in walking distance. There is an airport shuttle, combined with the Westmark and the Sitka hotel.

Kind at check in - accommodated early checking. Down hill from there. Bathroom missing soap, shampoo, conditioner & extra toilet paper. Also only one towel for two people for three nights. All these corrected after we went to staff.|No glasses of any kind in the room. Constant problems with room key card. |Acknowledge the challenges of staffing, but most staff seemed very disinterested & bored. |Breakfast was minimal & seemed to be a challenge even though everything offered could easily be purchased at the grocery store. One morning - no milk!|Although they advertise in house laundromat, it was out of order our entire stay which is problematic when in a wet environment where many guests are fishing and/or traveling. We had to walk 15/20 minutes to a public laundromat

I spoke to the manager this morning about the conditions below. He apologized for our experience and said they were acquiring the property from Wyndham and were working on things. If you stay here, be sure to talk to management about problems right away, they will do their best to work it out.||||Overnight stay. Room was clean. WiFi was good. Person at the counter to check us in was not rude but was not overly friendly either. That is the end of the positive. Negatives:||- No cups or glasses in the room at all.||- soda/water vending machine out of order||The two conditions above left you either drinking tap water out of your hands or out of the ice bucket with no lid or liner. We walked 4 blocks to the grocery store to get drinking water. I did not check to see if ice machine worked.||- Snack/candy vending machine empty except for a few sticks of Starburst.||- No blanket on the bed or in the room.||My wife had to sleep in sweatshirt with a coat over her legs so that I would not roast from having the heat on high enough to keep her warm.||-TV was too dim to watch with no way to adjust brightness.||- Obviously no coffee maker in room as advertised on the website because there were no cups even.||||My wife just reported that there are breakfast items and coffee in the lobby this morning.||||Hotel is OK to stay at as long as you bring EVERYTHING you need, including your own blanket.

The staff was helpful and nice but when I first arrived from the airport they did not have a shuttle service. I prepaid my room online and they charged me twice but at a higher rate of over $200 when I was asked for a credit card for incidentals causing me to have a very long check in. The tv cable box was not working or even explained on paper how it works. The morning after, the toilet overflowed 😐

Great location, great staff, and nice room. With COVID restrictions and awareness all around the Super 8 presented perfect. Clean location with appropriate mask measures in place. Felicia is a great front desk clerk and has a way to make you feel at home.

We enjoyed our stay. John was personable informative and knowledgeable about activities and trails on Sitka. Very relaxed and down to earth vibes. Hotel is within walking distance to the major restaurants shops and harbor. John was knowledgeable about the wildlife and made us feel at home

Rented a Queen room as a means to escape a cockroach infestation in my previous residence, very clean and comfortable compared to the experience I had in my old apartment. While I may have only stayed a handful of days to mitigate the bug problem, it provided me with a much needed rest and relaxation I couldn't otherwise find at home. 4/5, only thing I'd take away from it was the fact they do not accept cash in hand, even when a debit/credit card is booked on-file. I digress.

Reserved on short notice for work trip. My room doesn't have accessable wall outlets, and the ones we have are in awkward spots. Bathroom is decently sized with a single sink, and a comfortable bath - its cozy to soak in the tub. Two beds are both comfortable, though could have a closet instead of two beds. I haven't asked for one but there wasn't a fold-up suit-case stand, so I just put it on top of the clothing shelf.
