Best Western San Marcos Inn

The room had an awesome view of Morro Rock. The shower water was hot and the shower head nice and smooth and even. The best part of staying here is the property is well kept. Very clean. Towels were clean. Bedding clean. Does not disappoint. Staff very friendly and breakfast looks good but I wasn't able to stay for breakfast.

Two Queen beds jammed into too small of a room. Heat provided by a wall heater within a few inches of the bedding which appears to be a fire hazard. One has to climb on the bed to adjust the thermostat. The WiFi was down during my stay. The breakfast is provided in the lobby and it is too small for the number of guests. Key card did not work the most convenient door in the parking garage to access the room. The hotel is quite worn. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay there again.

We stayed here February 1 and 2nd 2025. Hotel was full so we didn’t get any upgrade.|The room is very basic. There’s not much in the room, but a bed which was very very soft and hurt my back and neck. There was also a table with two chairs. The mirror in the bathroom was very short and when standing in front of it only came to mid-level test for me and I’m only 5’11’. Our view was overlooking the parking lot and the checkin area. There is no air conditioning, so therefore no air circulating in the room.||The breakfast room was very tiny with only enough people for about 10 people and serve a small amount various periods with some hot tubs and cereals and breads. If you want a basic clean room, then this room is fine. Unfortunately, there’s no higher end chain hotels in Morro Bay so everything is a small hotel with the exception of a few very high and Boutique Hotel’s.||It’s a nice place to walk along the Embarcadero and see a lot of wildlife, including sea otters, sea lions as well as lots of bird life. We also drove up to San Simeon and saw the elephant seals where they were giving birth and a few large males were still on the beach.

My partner and I are road tripping America from Australia. Staff were really nice. There was a lovely spa. The breakfast buffet had a good variety. The hotel is located in a nice spot. The room has a desk, fridge and microwave. It was definitely one of the nicer hotels I have stayed at and also more affordable. The only thing I would change is an air conditioner in our room but otherwise really happy. 😊

My wife and I had a trip to central coast and stayed at the San Marcos Inn. Having no AC was not a problem, the rooms were okay but the bathroom is small. The area is in a good location, you can see the Morro Rock on one side of the building. Food was okay but area is a little small, other people were standing and waiting for someone to finish. Overall, it was a good stay. The town was beautiful as well.

I really don't like to do reviews that are bad but this place was not up to the standards that a Best Western hotel should. First let's start with the price. I saw on line that the room for Sat night was on the high side 244.99 and for Sun night it was 139.99. I was charged $306 for Sat and for Sunday night the high side on line was $139.99 I was charged $158.00. Not only were the prices not the same online as when you called the place was old and had never been renovated. When my daughter was in the shower I flushed the toilet and she was scalded. I too was scalded when I was in the shower when I was in the shower. The room was advertised as an ocean view room which is false. The room overlooks Morro Bay which is not the ocean. The hotel on line is not depicted as it really is. It looks beautiful and it is far from that. The beds where uncomfortable, the sliding glass door would not lock. The only positive thing about the stay was the continental, it was good. I have talked with Stacy and asked her to match the prices that were advertised on line and she refused. Oh well, guess I will not be staying at any Best Western's any more.

A great choice for a stay in charming Morro Bay. Our room was very clean and spacious. After a warm and friendly welcome and an easy and speedy check-in procedure we walked down to the Embarcadero for a wonderful dinner. It's only a 5 minutes walk. They offer complementory breakfast.

We had a nice stay at San Marcos, room was clean and staffs were very friendly. After we left for three weeks, my husband couldn’t find his favorite flannel shirt and two other clothes. We contacted hotel front desk, Stacey and Shelby both helped us located the clothes and mailed the clothes to us. They were so understanding and helpful. We truly appreciated. Will definitely recommend and revisit this hotel.
