This was a quiet hotel for me. No kids running the hallways or dogs barking in the room. The location was excellent for my family. Our room was large, clean, and well-appointed. Excellent shower, mini-fridge, hangers, television, and room temperature. We found parking a problem when returning at night. The breakfast was excellent when it was monitored. I had to ask for more milk and more creamer. I had to ask for more oatmeal and was told "only one pot of oatmeal" was prepared for breakfast, which is unacceptable. The very nice desk lady made me a bowl of oatmeal when there was none, but oatmeal was gone for others. One morning, there were no more hard-boiled eggs before breakfast had ended. Signage at the front desk proclaimed the hotel to be 'understaffed' with housecleaning only upon request. Two front desk workers were pleasant and accommodating. A third complained for 10 minutes about the long hours, hard work, and understaffing. He clearly hated his job at this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the Masterpiece Hotel on a Friday and Saturday night recently. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. We were assigned room 103, which was quite spacious and apparently recently renovated. I found the king sized bed to be comfortable. The room was clean and had everything we needed. I was initially concerned that the location of our room would be noisy in the morning, as the breakfast tables were right outside our door. This was not the case. It was quiet, even with several tables occupied. The breakfast offered some good stuff like waffles, muffins, fruit, coffee, juice. I would have liked some egg offerings, but overall it was good. Standard practice (the way I understood it) was no daily maid service unless you request something. Again, fine since we didn't spend much time in the room. Despite the small parking lot, we always found an available spot. The location was very convenient for walking the beach and Morro Rock, dining, and shopping. I recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel. We had a nice stay with a small balcony. Our room had a view of the Morro Bay Rock. Close to all the shops and restaurants. The room was clean, neighborhood was quiet. The free breakfast was good. Great coffee. The staff were very friendly, polite and professional. We will definitely stay here again.

Please read. No idea how this place is well rated.||MLK weekend, 2025||Daughter and I looked forward to our stay. Reviews were awesome, room looked great (fireplace, balcony, 2 queen room).||I got a text at 5:15 pm asking when I’d be checking in. I replied, “by 7”. At 6:40 we arrived to an empty lobby. Nobody at the desk. There was a “be back at 7” sign. Phone went to voicemail, etc. I replied again to the text asking where everyone was. We waited 20 minutes until the employee arrived. No smile. No hello. Just a rant about being there alone and by state law she needs lunch, etc etc. Of course I know the laws…but maybe a text letting me know she’d be gone until 7? When I just stayed positive for the sake of a present kid and expressed sympathy for her job and apologized for being short, she ignored me. I aske if she heard me and she said “yes”. My daughter offered her a glass of water and she ignored her too.||||Our room was a wheelchair room on floor 1. No fireplace. No balcony. And the same lady slammed around in a housekeeping closet at 10pm that we shared a wall with.||||In the morning I watched another employee take a bloody pillow a gust gave him (he slipped at the jacuzzi and hurt himself..) and toss it in the back and say “she’ll clean it. IT’S CALLED OXI CLEAN” Pretty sure the sanitary solution is the trash. When this guy walked me back to my room to retrieve a left behind item he said the following…”he was probably drunk or stoned. He should’ve told me last night..it’s his fault”. He then told me his biggest problem was the “terrorists, excuse me, middle eastern guests upstairs. They’re worse than the French…Chinese are the same too”. I told him to stop talking. I’m not racist and he’s terrible. He followed me outside and gave a limp apology. I told him to not speak to me again. I’m so glad my daughter wasn’t there to hear it. She also was the reason I didn’t knock his rotten racist teeth down his throat.||||DO NOT STAY HERE. I’ll be filing a report with the BBB.

Positive: It was quiet and staff responded like they should. When checking out I forgot some items and staff allowed me to go back and grab them. Negative: Parking was limited. We had a night event and did not rerun back to the hotel until 9pm and there were no parking spaces left. We had to park on the street which was fine. The neighborhood seemed safe enough. Beds were not the most comfy.

Comfort, comfort, comfort. The bed is comfortable, the chairs and sofa are comfortable, even the carpet was comfortable. Big spacious clean room. There is beautiful art work lining the hallways. Extra entries aside from the main entrance. Fresh fruit and items for hot beverages. Small bench with lamppost outside for smoking.

My most recent trip was fabulous. The staff was very friendly and check in was quick and easy. The hotel overall is clean and the rooms are clean and spacious. Its my favorite place to stay. Please on your next romantic getaway ask for a "Romance Package" for a small fee the staff will create a nice setting for you and your partner. I just had it done and it was a lovely surprise. Thank you Masterpiece Hotel for making my stay a pleasant one.

Road tripping up the coast with no booked hotel can be risky, but we stopped in at the Masterpiece Hotel and met the amazing Gabbi. She was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with a beautiful fireplace. The spa was AMAZING and so appreciated after a day of driving. Would definitely go back. Morro Bay was a great little town.
