★★★★★I spent a little while deciding on where to stay in San Diego, as there are so many different neighborhoods! Thankfully, I made the right choice (in my opinion!) as we could easily explore a lot of the area by foot or public transport (Old Town, Coronado, Little Italy) easily from Gaslamp Plaza Suites central location. For clarity, we drove from SanDiego to LAX to fly home, so we went by hire car to some of the further areas (La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad). From the moment we stepped through the doors we were greeted by friendly hosts who gave us the run down on how to get around and what to look out for. It’s a lovely older building and the room was large, bed comfy, great view and shower strong and hot. |Huge thank you to all the staff (and particularly, Merry) who really made the stay so enjoyable. |I wish we had made more use of the rooftop area. It’s a lovely spot (especially for sun sets).

★★★★★We loved the location of this hotel. Easy to walk or catch the trolley. The hotel is charming, clean and comfortable. The highlight for me was Merry at the front desk. Truly a blessing and helpful with all things San Diego. |The one thing I thought could be improved is a break room for employees. As a customer person rep I prefer to have a private break area away from customers. As a customer I would prefer to use the rooftop room without joining the employees for their break.

NillAmazing hotel with amazing staff and the location is also so amazing .. Believe me I came here from Vegas in a top tier hotel but this hotel was at least same experience .. Rooms are comfy , large and there is also small kitchen inside to cover your needs. Even they have nice office desk to work and a sofa in front of TV to have studio home experience. If you ask to me best place to stay in San Diego .. Go ahead and dont think a minute.

NillWe really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect and walkable to almost everywhere we wanted. The service was great and everyone was just pleasant to deal with. The rooftop was a fantastic addition to just hangout and start/end the day on a easy note. The rooms are really efficient of space usage but can definitely benefit from just a little more space and a bit of renovation. The only reason it's not a five is that they decided to "soundproof" the rooms by boarding up the windows which is a really interesting move.

★★★★★This hotel is beautiful, it’s the perfect balance between classical and modern. Reminds me of the plaza hotel in NYC. |Our room was upgraded to a junior suite and it was so lovely! It was super clean. The staff from the valet to the reception were all so incredible. Also great location. Please stay here!

NillThis is a gem! Great location, lovely old hotel well maintained with large rooms, wonderful rooftop patio for morning coffee or BYOB happy hour, and friendly staff. Merry at the front desk is a welcoming angel. Handy location to eateries and bars in Gaslamp District plus short walk to waterfront and longer walk north to Balboa Park. Definitely will return.

NillWe are lucky the room did not fall apart during our stay!😮 With the exception of Merry and Brittany, the front desk staff appeared to do minimal work and even rude. One night I had to call twice to exchange the coffee maker that was triggering the electrical outlet to go off. This is after the shower h ead had fallen off and another night I had to do the same because after our room was cleaned the towels were not replenished. The ambiance is pretty sterile. The upkeep has room for improvement. Some of the housekeeping personnel were friendly and helpful. There is no consistency as to the culture of personnel.
