NillGranger is a beautiful hotel that truly makes you feel welcome. Its prime location makes it easy to visit San Diego’s top attractions without much hassle. The lobby is elegantly designed, featuring a cozy lounge area that enhances the welcoming ambiance. While the rooms are slightly compact, they offer great value considering the hotel’s location and reasonable rates. A few standout features include the complimentary breakfast, Nespresso coffee machines, and a well-stocked snack bar on every floor—thoughtful touches that elevate the guest experience. The staff provides commendable service, always attentive and accommodating. Being a smaller hotel, there are some limitations, but the overall positives far outweigh any minor drawbacks. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would gladly return.

NillMy husband and I’s stay at the Granger was absolutely wonderful! Truly a luxurious hotel and I love their history. If you’re looking to stay in a historic hotel with modern interior and amenities, this is the perfect spot. They graciously accommodated our early check in request, asked which level we prefer, and offered to hold our bags when we went to check out the next morning. All staff were extremely professional, kind, and helpful. Location is wonderful in the heart of downtown. We were offered 2 drinks on the house in their beautiful bar which we happily accepted and enjoyed - the art was fantastic. Best hotel breakfast buffet style we have experienced, everything hand made and fresh with lots of options. Our room was very clean and comfortable, housekeeping does a great job! Overall, very pleased with our stay and looking forward to the next.

★★★A solid, but not exceptional, boutique hotel. The staff is polite, and the welcome drink was a nice touch. The hotel is small, with dark hallways—I’m not sure why they chose navy paint for the corridors. Rooms are compact but clean. There are some thoughtful amenities like Nespresso machines in the hallways and a candy machine on each floor (though one female guest seemed to have claimed all the peanut M&Ms!! We saw her scurry away leaving a trail of orange nuggets) . Breakfast was decent, though served cold. Overall, it’s a good option if the price is right, but don’t expect a luxury experience. A solid choice for a boutique stay. Oh and it is a fragrant hotel … not sure what scents they are infusing into the San Diego hotel air..

NillGreat service and location, but the room was average. We were charged a $107 pet fee without any prior notification. When I checked in with my dog, I informed the staff, and they provided a card to hang on the door indicating a pet was in the room. During our stay, we noticed a charge and were told it was just a deposit that would be refunded after checkout. However, a week later, we still hadn’t received a refund, so we called to inquire—only to be told it was actually a pet fee. I don’t mind paying a pet fee, but guests should be informed about it upfront!

NillI spent two nights at the Granger Hotel in San Diego on a business trip this December, and it was a stay of contrasts. The hotel itself exudes beauty, with wide hallways and elegant decor that give it a sophisticated yet laid-back vibe. The lobby is particularly impressive, beautifully decorated and even featuring a quirky bar behind the check-in counter where you’re greeted with a list of welcome cocktails—a fun touch that sets a great first impression. However, the rooms didn't quite live up to the lobby’s promise. They felt a bit cold and crowded, though I have to admit, the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The mismatch between the communal areas and the private rooms was a bit of a letdown. A notable inconvenience is the hotel's parking situation. Located in a busy downtown area, the lack of on-site parking and even a proper loading zone was more than a little cumbersome. Although the hotel has a partnership with a nearby lot, the arrangement felt clunky. You need to stop by the hotel first to pick up a parking card, which is a hassle, especially since there's a cheaper garage just a block away charging $25 per night, compared to the hotel’s $40. Overall, while the Granger Hotel has a lot going for it in terms of aesthetics and initial wow-factor, the amenities and services didn’t quite meet the high standards I’ve experienced at other Design Hotel properties. It’s lovely, but be prepared for a few logistical hiccups if you’re coming by car.

NillWe stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed this hotel so much! Very friendly staff that awaits you with a welcome drink. Beautiful decorated and styled. Comfortable rooms with a very tasty complimentary breakfast. And in the hallway a cabinet with a Starbucks coffee maker, water and salty & sweet treats like pretzels and chocolate raisins. On our last day they accommodated us with a late check out at no cost. Really can recommend their hospitality!

NillThis has been my second stay at the Granger Hotel in downtown San Diego. To say this is one of my new favorite hotels in the state is an understatement. I initially loved the fact that you have to be a member of the hotel or a guest of a member at the hotel to initially walk in. When you walk in, you are initially greeted at the check-in which also is a bar so you are greeted with a welcome drink, should you choose. The aesthetic of the hotel is unlike one I’ve seen previously. Each floor has a common area that contains water, snacks, a coffee station. On top of all that, the staff is incredibly friendly and super helpful. As someone who travels to San Diego often, I will make an effort to repeat stay here.

★★★★★One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at…the place feels very high end and modern. It’s got such charm…and the service is absolutely incredible. Welcome drinks, always a super friendly team, helpful with everything from adaptors and directions to general knowledge and reservations. Honestly can’t find a fault. The room also has some real useful features such as the most up to date charging stations - a really nice touch. Breakfast was a really nice touch, plenty is offered and it’s super tasty. The whole place is also spotlessly clean and really well maintained / new. I’d 100% recommend if you’re visiting San Diego.
