It's a great hostel, great vibes and location. Also the shared facilities are clean and you can tell that they are designed with love for people to feel welcome. The rooms are relatively small and the beds a bit squeaky, but very fine. And I love that they provide gender free facilities and are very queer welcome!!

Very comfortable bed and nice staff. |Endless supply of teas and a very cozy television room with sofa and chairs.|There are some really good taquerias around with real killer carne asada burrito: Nico's Mexican Food & Mike's Taco Club. (trust me)|I wish they don't take the coffee away at 9 AM, that's way too early.|Leave the coffee out for little bit longer for your guests to enjoy.||This is a basic hostel that is comfortable but has no group activities, so for those of you who are traveling solo, first time staying at hostel, shy or non English speakers, this will be a very boring and lonely hostel to you. Also ocean beach is quiet after 7 PM.||But I recommend this hostel if you seeking a good, clean, comfortable stay.

WOW I felt so spoiled! I had never stayed at a hostel before, and I couldn't have asked for a better first experience. All the employees were so kind, patient and knowledgeable, and I loved the energy that was cultivated. It is so well decorated, so incredibly located (a stone's throw from the beach), and I will ABSOLUTELY return if I am to the OB area again. Thank you!

The hostel is wonderful, the hosts are superb. I stayed here for four nights. I had a blast! Amazing people. Extremely welcoming and friendly. I will definitely visit again. The rooms are neat and clean, and the location is very close to the beach.

I really loved my stay here! You can tell that the staff take their jobs seriously and really care about your experience. It was clean, super sociable and great area. Free breakfast was good and tea available all day. Such a nice, social vibe as a solo traveller. I was sad to leave!

welcome to the most well managed hostel and beach neighborhood in San Diego. The best dumpy beach town around! It doesn’t get better than this, and I’ve been to them all. Beach vibes. 420 vibes. Luxurious bathrooms ‘n showers. Hardwood floors. Big outdoor area to laze away the days on. Little semi/outdoor living room area with two heaters for cold days. And OB gets cold days. In general, just well thought out, designed, managed. Great receptionists. by not having volunteer workers, it loses the hostel community vibe, so it depends on the people there. But OB as a neighborhood is the vibe, so it’s all good. You can hear great jam music from the window, coming from the Harp. Get Sapporos for $2.50 next door. Great local neighborhood prices at nearby shops. The best liquor store I’ve ever seen three doors down (walls of it). Farmers market once a week. Music shows almost every night—I’d you get the right room, you can hear it from the window! Enjoy the beach nearby with chill bohemians. It was sooooooo so peaceful. Only possible con is the 4-bed, which is prison-like claustrophobic. Go for the 6-bed. And that Latino lady, who gets passive aggressive about her kitchen, “is that your plate?”, after she just watched me put the plate down.. LOL. But the vibes are so good, it doesn’t matter. :) And anyway, the place is immaculately clean, so she’s doing her thang. Also Kathleen is an incredible person, such a ball of joy, and gossip. :D and Mark is perfect for the job! Cleaning that kitchen up in record time!
