Holiday Inn Express Saint Simons Island by IHG

We stayed Saturday night, March 15, 2025. I booked our room with a king bed online and later sent an email to the hotel letting them know we would be checking in late in the evening. I also asked for a quiet room and that someone ensure there were two regular coffees in the room. Our IHG preference sheet shows we always prefer a room on a high floor away from the elevators. I received an email response letting me know our requests were taken care of. When we checked in, we were assisted by a wonderful and polite young lady named Yva. After some enjoyable small talk and mutual laughs, we headed off to our room, which was on the 1st floor. No mind you, I would have made quite a fuss about it being on the first floor, but the desk clerk, Yva was so nice and such a pleasure speaking to that I decided just to let it go this time. We went to the assigned room and we were unable to get in. The keys were working, but it seemed as though it was locked from the inside. So, we went back to Yva and she moved us to the second floor, this time all the way to the end of the hall away from the elevator, which was great. Unfortunately, the desk light didn't work and there was a shortage of electrical outlets near the desk for me to plug in my laptop, but the bed was comfortable, pillows were good, room was older but clean, linen was fresh and in great shape, television was great and there were two regular coffees, which is always great; there is nothing worse than two coffee drinkers waking up to one k-cup of regular coffee and having to go to the lobby before getting any caffeine. The toilet is too low to the floor and difficult to rise from, but the fact that the fan on the heat/ac wall unit stayed on high all night was wonderful. Thank you to Yva. It's employees like this that make you want to come back!

We stayed at this location 5 months ago and absolutely loved it. What happened? The reception desk staff was excellent as we remembered but the rest of the experience was a big disappointment. Clearly there had no effort or expenditures made on upkeep. The room had lots of little things wrong from a toilet handle that was barely attached and operational to other issues. We got no cleaning the first night. We arrived back to our room to find half used coffee cups from the morning. No explanation on why. No hangers in the closet and no one seemed to know where any were. How easy should that be? The breakfast was great as always. The room was not particularly clean . It was a big disappointment.

We always love Holiday Inn Express! Clean rooms and grounds. Good quality bedding and love the bath products and Price is an added bonus. The breakfast is always good and filling with a variety to choose from. They provided us great info on sightseeing.

Steve is the nicest manager! He helped make my stay perfect! The food was great too. Coffee great. St Simon’s Island is fun! Hotel is in a great location with plenty of parking. The cook for included breakfasts was great food good! It’s worth returning to .

Asked the desk for information on the island. Can't remember the desk clerk but he went out of his way to accommodate us. He gave us a map showing us the highlights of the island. Off the way we went. Found the village and the light house. We had dinner at the village and was good. Restaurant was Del Sur Artisan Eats. The accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express were excellent. Bed & pillows were great. Breakfast was also terrific. Would stay here again !!!!

Genuinely one of the best hotel experiences. Everything is basic and how a Holiday Inn Express should be. What really makes the place stand out is the staff. Everyone was extremely pleasant and welcoming without feeling forced or fake. Is it a high end resort, absolutely not. Is it an affordable hotel, close to everything, with the best staff, absolutely.

It was a very pleasant stay! No compliments here at all, would stay here again. The pillows were very soft, the bed was comfy. Great night sleep. Less than ten minutes from the beach, and took us less than five minutes to get to the shops in downtown.

Rooms were okay beside the fact the bed squeaks and metal rubs anytime you move. My main concern and issue is the fact that the hotel front desk employee for the evening and night stated she “could not find the plastic utensils” (that are set out for the breakfast each morning), when I asked if they had any that I could have or even buy if necessary, she responded with “I already looked for another guest they must have been locked up by other employees because I can’t find any” , but yet they are put out every morning for the complimentary breakfast? So basically you are just being lazy or not trying in any way to help or convenience your guest that are staying with you. Not to mention there are no stores near by, and this happened at 9pm, when I was trying to eat some dinner. Breakfast was good. Honestly just appalled by the lack of effort to even try to convenience your guest that are spending decent amounts of money to stay with you (more than some of the surrounding hotels) for multiple nights. Wouldn’t stay again will definitely visit another next time I’m in the area.
