No shortage of rough around the edges hotels here. And this one mostly fits the category. This is a top tourist destination and high prices vs lower quality reflect that. As others have mentioned - no place to store or hang things (suitcases on the floor, sandwiches made atop the microwave & toiletries placed on top of toilet tank or toilet lid...). No on site office, no continental breakfast and understandable safety concerns. Grease (?) spots on top blankets made it feel unclean. Room was incredibly overly sprayed with room freshener. Recommend you call ahead and ask that not be used prior to your arrival. It isn't needed as there were no off odors once deodorizer wore off. Positives - Windows that do open fully. 36 inch(?) tall fridge has a small freezer compartment and worked very well. Across the street from a nice city park with shade, charcoal bbq and tables makes for a great place for post Yellowstone tailgate at the end of your day. Walking distance to everything although this town doesn't open up until 7am ish.

First off the street the hotel on was sketchy. Upon arrival, we learned there was no reception as it had “blown” up the previous year. The check in is a lockbox. The lockbox wasn’t locked when we got there. Anyone could have taken the key. There were bugs in the bathroom. Supposedly the rooms had been recently renovated. Painted yes, but nothing else. Absolutely no storage for clothing and toiletries. There wasn’t a lid on the toilet. NO HAIRDRYER .The air conditioning unit is portable right in the middle of the room. Lights in the parking lot go on at midnight and light up the room because there are no Curtin’s only a flimsy shade. I will say, the man who is the on-site caretaker did his best with what he had to work with.

We stayed here several times before the fire when there were resident managers. Our experience was always good—not fancy but sufficient, competitive price, quiet, and helpful desk staff. This time, not so good. For a repeat customer I expected a fully remodeled room (as I was told on the phone by the interim management). After one night with a clicking sound and flashing light coming from the air conditioner all night, I asked to change rooms for the rest of our stay (3 more nights). I also noticed other rooms were far nicer, had more furniture (desk, chairs) and were roomier than ours. I was told that all the rooms were booked and we could not move. However many rooms turned over daily—as I talked to people in the parking lot. We could have easily packed our things and moved right before the check in time. The next 3 nights we listened to rap music starting at 10:00 p.m. from the room next to ours. It appeared young seasonal workers were staying in a couple adjoining rooms. Not all rooms had this issue, but we were the lucky ones. And late in the day, one of them spent a lot of time, outside the room on his phone, with a vocabulary of profane words. Nice. (As fishermen, we are back at lodging mid-afternoon and then again at night.) since I didn’t get help from the interim remote management from my first call about changing our room, I didn’t waste time calling again. Some reviewers mentioned the confusing room entry procedure. I helped 3-4 renters figure out the room access system, since we were sitting outside our room mid-day, when people arrived. (You’re welcome, One Horse.)||Unfortunately, I cannot continue to recommend this place at this time. Perhaps when/if the office is rebuilt and there is a resident manager, I’ll try it again. But next year we will stay at another place. Play a little more and have a better experience.

Tough to review. I am surprised that others with our experience haven't said anything. When we opened the door there was an obvious septic smell. The unit was small but adequate. The only sink (bathroom) had a broken cold-water handle so we couldn't use it till I switched the hot water handle to the cold faucet. It took overnight and the next day while we were touring to get the faucet fixed and the smell (mostly) out of the room for the evening. Apparently, they have been having on-going sewer problems. The cleaning was VERY good by two very nice women, grandmother and granddaughter (I think), thank you both you did a great job cleaning the room. For the smell and broken handle, on-going questionable maintenance and thin(!!) walls compared to other hotels we have stayed in, we should not have been charged $200.00 a night!!! Go somewhere else!! Oh- don't be fooled by the pictures, The building is tired, and the surroundings are needing of a good cleaning up; pictures must be when it was first built.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this older but updated motel is. After reading the reviews, I'll be honest I was a bit worried about booking the One Horse, I shouldn't have.|The room key was in the lockbox just as the email described. The room was clean with plenty of towels for our stay. The two queen beds were soft and very comfortable. I'll admit I'm a shower snob and the One Horse had a decent shower. Not the greatest but they've raised the shower head which allows me to stand up straight and the water pressure was good. It's also nice that it didn't change temperature while using it. |There are things you need to know though. We were in a two queen room. The rooms are small and the two beds leave very little space for your stuff. There is a place to hang items with a few metal hangers. One of the beds has a side table, the other has the air conditioner where a table could be. The fridge was a good size for a motel room and it had a microwave on top of it along with the coffee maker. There is also one of those things you unfold to put your suitcase on. There were plenty of plugs in the room for charging things. The bathroom had the mother lode when it comes to plugs. Next to the light fixture is 4 or was it six plugs.|We didn't hear any noise from the rooms next to use but you could hear people in the parking area (window was closed). |There are a few things I can't review - We didnt' watch TV or use the WiFi. There was no need for the air conditioner, opening a window cooled the room to a very comfortable sleeping temperature. |If you're looking for a clean room and a good nights sleep, give One Horse a chance. I think you'll be pleased.

We’ve visited Yellowstone several times over the years. This motel was a perfect choice for us. Newly remodeled, comfortable beds & clean, great location for visiting the park. Plus the price for that area was super inexpensive. The self check in worked perfectly (not sure why other reviewers find this unusual since that’s very common now. ||Also when visiting Yellowstone area, do not expect luxury hotels nor expect any type of air conditioning. This motel does have an air conditioning unit if needed. ||The staff on the phone were MORE than helpful and accommodating.||I would highly recommend this motel. Remember don’t expect luxury accommodations near or inside Yellowstone National Park and you won’t be disappointed.

Rooms were surprisingly clean and looked recently updated. There was plenty of space. Parking in front (or the space next to) your room and easy check in via a lock box next to your door. (If you’re like us, you will need to make sure you can access your emails as they send the code on the day so will need to find internet!). It’s so close to the west entrance of Yellowstone so ideal if that’s your plan. Personally, I think your stay will depend on your neighbours. We stayed three nights and the first two had the people staying next door smoking and talking outside our window and the windows didn’t block out any noise/Next doors TV was turned up loud (my husband who is a heavy sleeper didn’t hear anything but I am a slightly lighter sleeper and this was annoying). However, the third night there was no noise and we both slept soundly! The air conditioning was also pretty loud so hard to have on over night but if you set it to “fan” it was quieter, just not as cold!

We spent 3 nights and had an alright stay. Room was clean, but smaller than I’d expected. There was no table or sitting area which was tricky with 2 kids. But there was a little sitting spot outside. The AC was fighting the heating structure which was making warm air even though it was already in the high 70s. The biggest problem was that we had some noisy neighbors who came in around 2 am and you can clearly hear them talking. Overall, happy with the value, would recommend, but bring earplugs!!
