★★★★This is a very sweet, updated hotel. We liked the ease of check-in; we never saw another person. While our room, Gold Digger, was updated nicely--the en suite bathroom was fantastic--it was pretty sparsely furnished. There really was no place to unpack or set a suitcase. (We had a small desk and two small bedside tables.) The mattress was a little saggy and probably should be updated soon. The property is quite interesting and it was too bad that it was too cold to enjoy the patio; it looked fantastic. We had hoped for more places to sit around the hotel but the room with lovely chairs/couches was not heated and was too cold to sit in comfortably. Overall, though, we still loved the vibe of the hotel and our room and found it comfortable for a one-night stay.

★★★★★I spent one night with my son while hunting in eastern Oregon. I was very impressed with the hotel and ease of check in. Reserve room online and then they send code. Super easy. ||Rooms are cool and very well done. It’s impressive what hard work and creativity can do restoring an old hotel. I wish there were more like it.

★★★★★We loved this hotel! So nicely appointed and decorated. Comfortable bed. Very quiet and centrally located. The hosts were very accommodating. They allowed us to charge our EV overnight. Nice Mexican restaurant down the block. Would definitely stay there again.

NillUpdate: after writing this review the host reached out in a very timely manner and made it right by us. If we ever make this drive again during the warmer months i would consider staying here again and checking out some of their other amenities. My wife and I had a very short stay. We arrived this morning at 1:00 AM on our roadtrip from AZ to WA. We contacted the owners making sure that the late checkin was ok and to make sure we were able to get into our room, and they told us that upon reservation you get personalized codes to get into the hotel and room which worked flawlessly. The host also let us know there were space heaters in a storage closet we could use due to the cold weather forecast. I could not find them upon arrival (probably due to the 18 hrs of driving and a lack of effort on my part since i found them later on). The forecast in Burns OR was to get down to -15 degrees overnight. Upon our arrival our room was a very brisk 50 degrees and we could not adjust the mini split heater to increase the temperature, which we later found out the system could not keep up with the negative temperatures. I could not fall asleep until about 2:00 Am due to the cold room and then woke up at 6:00 Am from being too cold. At this point i went into their storage locker to look for mini space heaters again. I looked a little bit harder when i woke up and finally found them. As soon as we plugged them in our room it tripped the breaker and we no longer had any power in our rooms. After being on the road for 18 hours the previous day it would’ve been nice to get some rest before doing the remainder of our drive but was unable to. Knowing that southern Oregon gets very cold temperatures throughout the winter there should be an alternative heat source (gas fireplace if possible). Especially if the power were to go out. I was displeased with our stay considering we paid $150 for about a 5 hour stay because our room was so unbearably cold. Aesthetically the hotel was very nice and the remodel they did looked really good. I imagine this place would be a great place to stay during the summer or during warmer days in the winter. But for colder weather it’s probably just better to stay at one of the chain hotels in the area until this problem is resolved. That being said the other hotels in the area may have had the same problems.

NillHoly wow! We traveled to Burns Oregon for business and stumbled upon one of the coolest gems ever! The Central Hotel is almost indescribable. Here is a fully restored (beautifully I need to add) historic hotel with all of the amenities needed for a lovely stay. Great restaurants nearby, and many really great local sights to visit. STAY here!

NillThis is an amazing independent hotel with a cool “speakeasy” vibe. No check-in—you are emailed a code that gives access to exterior doors, your room, and public spaces, and the owners are a quick text away if you need anything. I even got to meet Heather a few doors down at the bar at The Palace ;food truck lot). Rooms are all unique and well-appointed. There is a coffee bar and mini fridge in the hallway for all. Probably the best part is the decor, especially in the event spaces. The owners have put a ton of work into this place and it shows! Walkable to restaurants, etc. and a good central hub for a lot of eastern Oregon sights. (I stayed in July, and am hoping to stay again this coming weekend and realized I hadn’t left a review!)
