★★★★It's an older hotel with an amazing staff. The staff went above and beyond to help us navigate the digital booking, we are an older couple and welcomed the help. That's what grandkids are for. No continental breakfast, but Perkins restaurant is just steps out the front door. The brands loved the swimming pool with the 2 story slide.

NillBeds sucked ass. TV wouldn't turn on. Air-conditioned sounded like a mix between a Harley starting up and helicopter wings Pool was over chlorinated, no coffee no food.

NillThe grand gateway hotel. Is it okay place to stay for short time stay. The service is okay, it can be better and It's probably one of the most haunted hotel in Rapid City, the bar is great, very underrated good staff and good drinks.

NillI am really confused by all of the negative reviews on here. I understand that there was some turmoil with the last owner but am unaware of all the details. From my understanding, there are new owners now. I think people are leaving bad reviews on purpose to try to hurt the business. I am from the area and have stayed here on multiple occasions and will continue to do so. It is the only place I stay now when I am in Rapid. Yes, it is older and somewhat dated. I agree that maybe new flooring would be a good thing to think about but I am blown away by the service from front desk to bartenders and most importantly, housekeepers. Everything is so clean and well maintained. Never once have I had a problem with anyone or anything. Obviously, we all take a chance when hiring employees. Sometimes its great and sometimes not. You can't base a business on one bad employee or one person's bad experience. Esp this day in age. You get what you get sometimes. I will attest that all the employees I have encountered have been nothing but cordial and that speaks volumes to the owners as well. Happy people don't work for jerks. If they do, they become unhappy. If you are looking for a cheap, clean, and convenient (right off the interstate with a bar & a restaurant attached and a Walmart 2 blocks away) place to stay, this is it!

★★★★The good: the lady at the desk had pulled double shifts but was still pleasant with people who were nit picking, she went out of her way to make sure we found a room that was acceptable. |The price was the best we had on our whoe trip. |The room was quiet and had a safe. |Management seemed to encourage return visits.|There was live music. |The bad: we had to switch frrom a king room to double queens to find beds that were not loud or uncomfortable. The first toom also had a bed with sheets barely on the bed. |There was no breakfast-a breakfast resturant was part of the hotel building, so you could get breakfast for an additional price. ||Would I come back again - we were planning on it, before we had to switch plans - but will in the future.

NillPlease DO NOT stay at this hotel. Somehow the poor reviews are being buried and additionally the bad news surrounding this hotel are not available unless you look specifically for the hotel name and "news" in the search bar. Photos of rooms on website are nothing like the actual rooms. I booked this hotel thinking it would be a quaint/historic kind of hotel. Instead we got cockroaches, stains and ripped carpet/furniture in a dark dreary hotel. It wasn't till very late when my other family in a separate room was already asleep that I found the cockroaches. Front desk seemed helpful and kind at first. They couldn't put me in any other room and told me to text their phone and the manager's phone. Attached are the replies I have gotten. The second desk person the morning of check out said the manager would be in touch, re-affirmed the managers number and gave a false email. I have not heard from anyone, was given false information, and have been fully charged for my stay. I have repeatedly filled out a inquiry form on the website with no response either. One of the worse experiences I have ever had.

NillStayed at this hotel on Monday the night before an early flight out of Rapid City. Had no issues with the room or hotel. Served our needs just fine. Cannot speak on pool amenities or breakfast since did not use. Went to the Cheers bar at night which was nice

★We have booked the hotel a day before, unfortunately without reading any reviews. Bad mistake! We drove a full tiring day to reach Rapid City, beautiful place eagerly waiting to get into the room for a good rest. We checked-in but the room, since we opened the door, smelled like mold. Of course the room was hot since the AC was not ON. The outside temp was roughly 93! As soon as the AC went ON the moldy musty smell poured into the room. I went to reception and kindly asked for the room to be changed. I was given another room but the AC did not function at all. Again a trip to reception and the next room was somewhat acceptable. Somewhat because: in all the rooms the carpet looks horrible with stains and dirty. The rooms are dark, very dark like a mortuary. There is no breakfast included also! Ah the smell, all the rooms stink, like there is no air circulation, the stale smell in unused rooms. If you can please avoid this establishment and spend your night elsewhere. One last item, of course the manager is not available and te only person in the hotel is the young girl at the reception.
