Island House Condo Hotel

Great place to relax at the beach! We have come here every year for over 10 years. The grounds are nice, the pool is always clean and the direct beach access is amazing. The one complaint is the beach is public now instead of private like it has been in the past. The cars driving by were worrisome for the kids running on the beach. But overall a pretty good value for beach views and walkable access to whitecap beach!

Rooms are outdated and need renovations. There is no reason reason that these owners have not remodeled and updated the fixtures, wall switches, hinges etc in these rooms. Beds need to be replaced as do the couches. We have been coming here since the 80's. Look at the outside hallway lights. They are dirty and some lights are different colors ie not consistent. Toilets need to be replaced - yes they work but outdated and 12" off the ground. Rooms need painting. Location is awesome as is the pool and bbq area. Need to go back to letting people swim to 11 pm.

Island house was in a wonderful location. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.

Me and my family took a mini get away and we wanted to be close to the beach. We were giving room #305 a side view. It was perfect. Easy access to the beach and what I love the most is that they have a balcony and you are able to enjoy the view. Everyone was friendly. Everything so clean and tidy. The pool was so much fun as well. Happy they even had a small one for my 1 year old to enjoy his trip as well. Thank you for my last minute reservation I will be back 10/10

Location location location. We have been coming here since the early 80's. The facility is clean, the rooms are spacious and they come equipped with a full kitchen. Pool is large, deep and heated. Beach access is about 50 yards from the property ie your right on the beach. And if you want to drive and park, your not even an 1/8 of a mile from beach access. Pool area has a very good bbq setup with six grills and tables. Its right by the pool. Units need to some updating and little bit of money put into them. They do show their age. A/C was very good in the room. Grocery store is about a 15 min drive to Flour Bluff. Recommend you hit HEB before crossing over to the island. Island Grocery is very good as well ...its expensive but convenient.

BEWARE.. I have been going to the island House for nearly 40 yrs. We were excited to go this year after receiving an email about the condo upgrades, pool resurfacing and new pool furniture. Upon check in our excitement quickly changed to disappointment. We were informed that we needed to pay in full upfront and that they would be passing along the 3.5% credit card processing fee. They will also charge you $25 for lost keys now. We had booked 4 rooms. Three of the rooms were for 4 nights and 1 was only 3 nights. We checked out of the 1 room and then received a call that we needed to check out of the other room. We asked for an exception since we were only there 1 more night and we're told "we make no exceptions not even for owners". Basically the front desk staff said if you don't like the rules stay somewhere else. Upon check out we were charged an additional $50 cleaning fee. As if this wasn't bad enough the 4 days we were there the pool was never cleaned. Our unit was not upgraded in any way. In fact the carpet which must be from the 80s felt like an old sponge. The showers were moldy and all 4 of the units had bugs. There was some new pool furniture but most of it was still old. Very disappointing and will not be returning.

We had asked when we made the reservation about a Military discount and we told to show the id when we arrive. However once we got there and asked we were told no discounts. We also called before we left to check on conditions since it was a day after the storm. We were assured the weather was great and beach was good. However the water was so high following a storm that there was NO beach. Water was up to the seawall. To make matters even worse once we moved rooms the charged a $50 cleaning after they offered to clean it. Management says my husband ok'd the fee However this is an outright lie as my husband was not there.

Go somewhere else. We were looking forward to our family reunion that had been coming to this location for 40 years and immediately became disappointed with the staff and cleanliness. The front desk staff were very rude and disrespectful at check-in and continued to lack any type of customer service skills throughout our stay. We stayed for 4 days and didn’t see anyone cleaning the pool and it was filthy, in the picture you can see the scum on the tiles. Their staff needs to be properly trained on how to clean a unit because I’ve never stayed somewhere this disgusting before. For the price and quality you are better off staying elsewhere. BEWARE: they are now lying on their negative review responses. Looks like the owners need to reflect and improve their customer service skills as well.
