NillWonderful place! Amazing view all around, close to town but yet isolated in lush woods. Homey, so get settled in! We rented the Chapel Lodge which is very spacious, 2 stories, 4 beds, a full kitchen and bath, fully stocked like your own house. The check in was confusing however, nobody was there to check us in. Turns out, it is self check in. Overall, perfect for any fishing trip!

★★★★★The pond is quite small, and we didn’t see the moose, but the cabin was very nice. We were upgraded to the chapel, which was spacious and had a full kitchen. Courtney was fabulous in allowing us to drop our bags off early and providing many little extras for our use. The location is close to town yet far enough out of town to feel remote. We would definitely stay here again.

NillThe cabin we stayed in was new and beautiful, although a little quirky. The only shower was on the main floor with the bedrooms upstairs, the main bedroom had a king and 2 twins while the second bedroom had a queen and not much room for anything else, and parking was a challenge with little room to turn a large car around. Overall, we had a great time, though, and the owners were very helpful and nice. We even go to see the resident moose a couple of times, which is always a treat!

★★★★★We had the Joy Cabin for one night. We had to be at Natron Air in the morning and this place is a 5-minute drive from there, making it very convenient for our purposes. The cabin is very well-appointed: there is a sofa and a couple of small tables, and the kitchen is comprehensively stocked with pots and pans and the usual utensils. The bed was most comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep. We even had the added bonus of seeing a moose drinking from the pond around 9pm! All this comes at a very good price - we were exploring other accommodation options in Soldotna and this was the least expensive we found even though the other options were rooms in hotels or inns rather than entire cabins. Highly recommended.

★★★★★Beautiful cabins, very clean and peaceful setting, fully equipped with everything & anything you may need. Super easy to find super easy arrival and departure with no effort on our part. Fantastic owner Courtney has her phone number posted in the cabins for any questions or Concerns. Lots of helpful information in cabin about local activities . Definitely will stay again.

★★I hate to leave bad reviews, but I need to be honest. We stayed at this cabin for one night before flying out to Lake Clark. The cabins are very outdated and need massive improvements. Our cabin had very outdated décor, the sheets had old stains on them, and in general the place just looked old. I can give that a pass, but there were other issues that need to be addressed. You couldn’t turn the faucet off in the bathroom, it had to be running at all times. Trying to remember that was hard. When showering, you cannot adjust the shower head at all, or you will cause damage to the pipes. The water in the cabin smelled really bad. There was no coffee maker provided, so we had to go get coffee in town before our flight. We stayed at 7 cabins during our time in Alaska and this was the most disappointing.

NillThe owners are absolutely wonderful. Their cabins are a beautiful oasis in the woods with every detail figured out to make you feel comfortable and welcome. If you are fishing, or just want some peaceful time away in the woods, these cabins are perfect.

★★I prefer to write positive reviews of places stayed, but have a hard time doing that for A Cabin by the Pond. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. ||Upon arrival on Day 1, within 2 minutes of entering our cabin, I noticed cobwebs in multiple spots, broken glass in the sink, a dirty kitchen, shower doors that had obviously not been cleaned in awhile, hardly any toilet paper left with no backup rolls, and dirt throughout the bathroom floor. I called the groundskeeper and asked for toilet paper and a broom, which he brought over within 5 minutes and apologized and said the housekeepers were done for the season! Later on the next evening he said he moved here in June when the housekeeper quit….so not sure what is really going on. ||On Day 2 we returned to our cabin early afternoon from fishing, and had no running water. I called the groundskeeper again and he said they were working earlier in the day and hit something, but the water should be back on in an hour. So, we went out for lunch, came back about 2 hours later, and the water was still off. I then called the Operations Manager of the property and he told me that he would contact the groundskeeper to see what was going on. We waited for a call back awhile and then decided to call them back ourselves to get an update. Once again we were told by the Operations Manager he would contact the groundkeeper. We asked if we could cancel our remaining nights so we could go to a hotel. The Operations Manager suggested we could go to a cabin that still had water and shower there, to which we said no. ||Within another hour or so the groundskeeper came over and told us they would move us to a cabin on the other side of the property where water was still working. The Manager then proceeded to tell us they would do this for no “up charge!” No up charge for running water….we were grateful!||The groundskeeper told us the 4 digit code to get into our new cabin was the same as our old cabin. He then saw us struggling to get in with the code and shouted a different 4 digit code across the property for us to use. Our new cabin neighbors were standing outside about 5 feet from us and were clearly able to hear the new code as well. The 4 of us just chuckled and we hoped our cabin neighbors would not use our cabin code while we were gone!||Upon entering our new cabin, I saw cobwebs right away again, the kitchen sink had dirt in it, and I got Clorox wipes out of my backpack to wipe down the bathroom floors….that was after picking up a quarter sized rock right in the middle of the bathroom floor. The coffee pot was also terribly dirty and had obviously not been wiped down. I wish I would have taken more pictures because I truly don’t want to paint a picture of something that did not exist. ||There were some nice things about the resort that are worth sharing. The cabins have dishes, etc. that you can use during your stay. There is also a grill out by the “pond” (see picture) that guests can use, which was great to grill salmon after catching it earlier that day. A fish cleaning station is available to guests, which is convenient. A Cabin by the Pond also has freezer space available for you to store fish (notice picture on door of shed that houses the freezers…we got to drive by this sign each time we went to/from our 2nd cabin…clearly not guest friendly!!!) Finally, both the groundskeeper and Manager answered the phone almost every time we called.||I understand these are hard times and everyone is doing their best, however, when paying the price we paid to stay at Cabin by the Pond, I would have expected more. I know this is a “cabin” and not a Ritz Carlton, but I also still expect cleanliness when paying to stay at a place like A Cabin by the Pond. In my opinion it is very old and outdated…notice picture saying you can’t move the shower head because it may break and then you are responsible!
