NillWe brought our cat with us, and being the only pet friendly lodge, Alpen was all that was available for my price range. And with the price per night, I expected better. First, we had to wait in the car for 6+ hours because no one mentioned check in is at 6 PM, and there is not a pet friendly waiting area. And to wait so long to find that the lodge hasn't been updated since I came here in middle school (which is 20+ years ago) was a disappointment. Candy wrappers litter the floor as well as mysterious black flacks that got stuck to feet and socks, mold in bathroom, and beds were not comfortable. I had good memories of this place back in the day, but the conditions were so bad, we couldn't bring ourselves to stay more than a night.

NillThe Alpen in is a dated lodge, and there were many issues with rattling plumbing and the baseboard heaters making noise throughout the night. The YMCA has many better options. I assume they don't keep it nice because it's one of the few if not the only lidge that allows pets, but it's just meh.

NillThe room was a little outdated however it was great for what we needed. The beds could have been more comfortable. The room itself was very roomy and had a lot of space. The view from our balcony was beautiful, and it was cool to see deer walking around below our room.

NillWell, it's a YMCA. So as long as that's established and you know what that means and if you still choose to go... You will have a great time! We will be back but try the summer time next time when there are more available activities. Everyone was friendly, rooms were spacious and the amenities were plentiful. Grateful to everyone there. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant!

NillNot a big fan of this particular building. The worst of all the YMCA lodges I've stayed at. Smells weird. Crazy banging/vibrating plumbing at all hours of the day and night. Beds are meh. Only nice things are the patios and it's close to the mess hall.

NillFood was cold. Rooms had no cooling so were hot. Floors were not vaccumed in lodge or dining hall. Views were great! Staff were friendly. We stayed in the Alpen Lodge. It was conveniently located.

NillIf you are from out of state and just trying to experience the seasons, winter is touch. Two words Resilient and Flexible. Limited staff and long walks, pack right! Snow shoes, snow pants layers, bring your own tubes and sleds. We are from TX so this was a experience. Resilient and Flexible(which we were not all the time) but fun

NillA really great experience. A beautiful place and lots to do. Even just having great walking space is wonderful.
