I had the same disappointing experience at this goSTOPS property. The biggest issue was the complete lack of management and communication from the staff. We noticed people partying late into the night, and instead of the staff stepping in and requesting them to stop or handling the matter internally, they chose to stay silent. What shocked me even more is that the property management directly called the police without even informing us or giving any warning. Because of this, we ended up with fines and challans — something that could have easily been avoided if the staff had acted responsibly. As a guest, I felt let down. Basic communication and accountability were completely missing. Instead of looking after their guests, the management made the situation worse and left us to deal with the consequences. This is not what I expect when I stay at a hostel. Overall, the stay left a very negative impression on me. The property might look nice, but the way the staff handled things ruined the whole experience. I would strongly suggest goSTOPS reviews how their team manages such situations, because at the end of the day, guests should feel safe and cared for, not stressed and penalized because of poor management.

Extremely Unprofessional Staff – Beware of Their Tactics I had a very disappointing experience at goStops. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. Initially, they encouraged us to party in the common area, even suggesting we play music. However, once we started enjoying ourselves, they suddenly turned hostile, threatened us with eviction, and told us to move the party to the rooftop instead. We followed their instructions and went to the rooftop. Surprisingly, the same staff who had directed us there disappeared and later called the police on us for playing music. As a result, the police arrived and issued a challan (fine) to us. From what we observed and heard from other guests, this seems to be a regular practice at this hostel—tricking guests, setting them up, and then involving the police to extort money. It felt like a scam designed to trap unsuspecting travelers. I strongly advise others to avoid this place. There are far better hostels with honest staff who actually care about their guests’ experience and safety.

goSTOPS made my stay as comfortable as possible. Just like Macleodganj itself, which has a naturally laid-back and chill vibe, the hostel carried the same easygoing atmosphere. The best part was the complete freedom—there were no unnecessary restrictions, and everything felt very relaxed and welcoming. It was the kind of place where you could truly unwind, meet like-minded travelers, and enjoy the essence of Macleodganj to the fullest.

I recently stayed at goSTOPS, expecting the usual lively hostel experience — especially since I brought my family along for the first time. Unfortunately, the stay turned out to be disappointing. The location itself is very difficult to access — it’s extremely steep and not family-friendly at all. Reaching the property felt exhausting, especially with luggage. On top of that, the overall vibe was completely off. No planned activities, no bonfire, BBQ, or any of the things usually associated with goSTOPS. It felt more like a quiet guest house than a hostel. I had planned (and hoped) to stay for two days, but ended up checking out the same day because there was nothing engaging or welcoming about the place. This experience was nowhere close to what was expected or advertised. I genuinely felt let down, especially after hyping it up to my family. Please take this feedback seriously — people choose goSTOPS for the community vibe and fun experiences, and this just didn’t deliver at all.

GoStops McLeodganj is one of the best places I’ve stayed at! I stayed in a private room. What I really liked is that there’s no key they use smart tech, so you can unlock your door using your smartphone. The food is also good, which is rare in these kinds of hostel stays here, it’s actually tasty. I recommend booking directly through the GoStops website. The internet can feel slow at times, but there’s no power cut. Geyser is available, and you also get a bucket and mug. The shower works well and the view is amazing. There’s outdoor seating and even a lift, which is a big plus. They also have a proper common area with a soundbar and fun games like pool, Jenga, Ludo, cards, chess, and more. The GoStops team is amazing the reception guy, Nitish, is very helpful, and Pawan bhaiya and the other staff members are also very friendly. If you’re a solo traveler, they’ll treat you like a friend, not just a guest which makes a big difference. I highly recommend this stay if you’re coming to McLeodganj. Famous places like Tibet Kitchen, Bhagsu Waterfall, and the bus stand are all within walking distance. Parking is also available if you’ve rented a scooty. I booked a private room for ₹1,400/day. Dorm prices are around ₹250–350, and they have both male and female dorm options.

Stayed at Zostel goStops McLeodganj and it was truly worth it! ✨ The rooms were super clean, equipped with lifts, and had all the essentials — from a well-stocked pantry to hot water in the bathrooms and even indoor sports area loaded with different games and even pool table. Reception and waiting area were also beautiful. The location is perfect, right at the heart of McLeodganj’s key spots. But the real showstopper? The terrace view! 😍 Stargazing at night and open skies during the day — totally paisa vasool! Plus, there are plenty of photogenic corners inside and out for your Insta moments. 📸 The staff was warm and welcoming, and the security is top-notch — perfect for solo or girl travellers. Doors can’t be opened without your phone’s permission, making the stay feel super safe. And so colourful themed. Highly recommend for anyone heading to the hills! 🏞️

We stayed at this property for two days and were disappointed with several aspects of our experience. The location is extremely difficult to access—situated down a very steep road and hard to find. Upon arrival around 6pm, we faced a lengthy and frustrating check-in process. Despite booking a private smoking room through Agoda and receiving confirmation that our request was accepted, the staff informed us that smoking was not allowed in any rooms, even those with balconies. This led to a prolonged discussion with the reception and management, delaying our check-in by almost an hour. The room itself was not clean, with visible shoe marks on the floor. There was no TV, limited WiFi (only 2GB per day), poor-quality coffee and tea, and no basic amenities such as toiletries or slippers. Housekeeping was not provided on the second day. The hostel enforces numerous strict rules, making the stay feel restrictive and unwelcoming. Additionally, the property is far from the main square, making it inconvenient to reach. We also noticed that other guests were allowed to smoke on their balconies, which added to our frustration with the inconsistent enforcement of rules. Overall, our experience with the location, cleanliness, service, and amenities was very disappointing. In comparison, other hostels like Zostel or Hosteller offer better service, fewer restrictions, and a more comfortable stay. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a pleasant and hassle-free experience
