Hotel Mount Simvo

We had to stay in this hotel because of blockage of roads to Lachung. Since we were stuck in Gangtok, the hotel property in Lachung arrange for Hotel Mount Simvo in Gangtok (sister concern mostly).||||Its a budget hotel. Situated right on side of the road, it is difficult to get any rooms with any view, since at the backside another construction work has cropped up. The rooms are extremely basic but fortunately clean. Although in the corridors you would find unfinished food plates lying around and torn mattesses,||||The service is ok. The staff is quite friendly.||||Food is pathetic.Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options are limited and quality of the same is really bad. Same is the case with complimentary breakfast too. We had ants and insects in our tea and bread. It was very frustrating.||||But for the price that it charges, I don't think you will find better hotels in gangtok. Still I would not recommend this hotel.

Booking in with 15 people is usually tricky, but faced with no running water, a shortage of bed sheets and a view of a brick wall one foot away, I wanted to move. Added to that, there was a ball of hair on the floor of one of the bed rooms and we had to ask for toilet paper, even though there was a place for it and they let us in to our rooms as they were ready. |We asked for a different room. This one had a sheet too small for the bed with red stains in the middle of it and the walls have grubby hand prints as well as what looks like snot above the bed.|The staff dealt with each complaint, the water was on within the hour, they found sheets and cleaned the floor. |The rooms still smell like a men's room disinfectant and the 'refurbishing' claimed on the website is limited to the lavish foyer where the owner sits. |Do not eat here. The over worked waiter had difficulty remembering orders and the food took up to an hour and a half to arrive. Most of it was cold. |This hotel cares only about a quick buck and not about the guests.|Having said all that, if you need somewhere cheap to sleep in Gangtok and you are willing to push for cleanliness, this could work. We had to stay three nights (only ate there once) .... And survived.

Newly refurbished boutique style hotel. Near to most tourist sights but at a safe distance from touristy hustle bustle of MG road. I stay at Gangtok, and am a regular visitor to its pure veg and Satwik restaurant, and visit by locals should be the mark of success for any hotel establishment. I would specially mention the sumptuous breakfast and buffet lunch at exemplary prices of 49/- and 149/-, something unseen in local upscale hotel industry. The buffet lunch has at least three organic veg dishes, with at least one local specialty, arduously grown in pristine hills of Sikkim, apart from usual affairs, viz. freshly baked chapati, basmati rice, lip smacking daal/ lentils presented with papad and other condiments, topped with mouth watering sweet dish. Restaurant executives Maya, Jeevan and Alisha are always smiling, ; Chef de cuisine Kapil has got gifted hands and the hotel is being efficiently run by always attentive manager Ramesh Basnett. Kudos to the team!

Very neat rooms and excellent room service. This was my second stay at this hotel and would prefer to stay here again. Average food and the hotel staff is very polite and will help us to plan our local trips to visit all nearby spots in Gangtok.

I stay in Hotel Mount Simvo every time I am in Gangtok! ||The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are cozy and the view from the balconies is superb! ||MG Marg and the city centre are just 10 minutes walking and the hotel also offers delicious tea and food. ||I highly recommend this hotel for any traveler or person on vacation wishing to taste a bit of real Sikkim and find confort on a budget!

Had to stay here because booking was done by tour operator tourginie.com. The hotel was very basic and almost no occupancy . The reason became evident when we asked for room heater and mosquito repellent the hotel had none of them. Imagine people visiting Gangtok in winter and being told heaters are not available in room. Even after complaining hotel was able to manage only one room heater and one mosquito repellent for the second night while we had booked two rooms, our tour operator had to manage the second one. Moreover only a single quilt was provided in the room the blanket provided in the room was dirty. When we saw it and complained it was 10:30PM and hotel staff got angry for being disturbed late at night as no one was available.|A disco was operating in next building with loud noise to keep you awake till 1:00 AM.|The evening used plates and glasses were left as it is in the dining area and were cleared next morning while we were having breakfast.

We visited this hotel on 27/28 April 2015 .Good ambience and good service .management is very cooperative .Good stay. hotel is recently renovated under new management .Food was very nice and they serve us a local vegetable specially prepared for us thus we got local taste. we enjoyed it a lot. Fantastic overall experience.

Standard vegeterian hotel in Tadong.Sikkim. room is spacious.well furnished. But food is with limited choice.breakfast nothing much.credit cards accepted.service needs improvement.
