When you visit a new place as a tourist, the location of the hotel plays a vital role. One doesn't want to sit in the hotel room however cozy that may be. By that yardstick, North Star Hotel in Gangtok is situated in a lousy location with horrible approach. Can you imagine the property doesn't even have proper staircase or ramp to approach the lobby? These types of hotels survive only with connivance of some tour operators who are only interested in putting their guests in some cozy rooms without bothering about the lousy and remotest possible location. STRONG ADVICE: NEVER STAY AT THIS PROPERTY |By the way, I stayed in this hotel from 31st December 2024 to 2nd January 2025.

(Not sponsored) Best hotel to stay in Gangtok for a fantabulous Mountain View, especially during sunset and summer nights! The staffs were extremely sweet and helpful. They listened to all our requests and made it happen. Since we had to leave early by 4AM, they packed food for us. They definitely need a raise!! Worth every penny and time!

Very bad service. We stayed there for three nights through our travel agent. We were only occupants. Food quality very bad. Difecult to make them understand anything we want. Cook is like a trainy. Washroom amenities of very low standards. Will request anyone who reads this review, please don't stay here.

Went there through a tourist company, really avoidable place in view of multiple other better options in Gangtok. The property is zero star, staff is totally untrained and unprofessional, food is one of the worst I have had till date and hygiene is absent from the place. The bathroom tiles had fungus, towels had stains, plates were not even heated for the buffet and they were oily. A glass was broken in my parents' room while we were away and the manager alleged my elderly parents had broken the thick divider glass between the bathroom room and demanded money for the same. I asked him to find out who among his staff did it and I would be ready to pay the same. He was quite rude but the matter was taken care by the tourist company.

It is a relatively new hotel. However it is very very short staffed. There is no one to help you if you need anything. Hot water issue in the room is a big problem. On top of it there was a group of people who would walk in common and start talking loudly from moring 5:30 am. When we try to call the help desk no one picks up the call. Overall very bad. Try to avoid. Much better hotels available in Gangtok.

Our 3 night stay to this pathetic hotel was prebooked by a travel company. One of the worst hotel I have ever seen. They even don't have water in the washrooms & every morning the travel agent used to give us 1 bucket of water & expected us to manage ourselves with that. The overall experience was utterly disgusting & my kid fell sick because of that. They don't even provided clean drinking water. I wonder why reputed travel companies harass their customers by choosing such pathetic hotels.

We just visited Gangtok in the last week of March 2022 and stayed at North Star. The hotel is very good with good rooms,good view everything. Except for the property and stay all good but the Restaurant service was Pathetic !!! They had buffet service for breakfast with 3 to 4 items ,but when u take the sabzi pooris are missing and coming after not less than 5 to 10 mins ,we ordered for omlette and toast the toast is coming and omlette is coming after 15 mins I mean this type of service for such a good property makes the entire thing go for a toss. Less staff for such a big hotel which was Pathetic. Overall stay was good except the restaurant service.

I have photos to prove my point.
