Hotel Megpie chestnut retreat

Magpie Chestnut Retreat is a property is located in the small town of Pelling in Sikkim on the foothills of the Mt. Khangchendzonga. The view from the rooms are majestic on a clear day. And this is where the positive review of this place ends. The rooms are good but you will find all kind of insects in the room. The amenities are basic. The laundry and linen are also not very neat. The staff is courteous and eversmiling but there is very little that they can do about your requirements. They can just smile n say yes to everything you say but can do nothing about your woes. Then comes the worst thing of the place. "THE FOOD" Being a small town you will not find many options to dine from. Also, Magpie is situated on the outskirt so going to the town is also not a good option. So you have to make do with whatever they serve you. The Breakfast spread isn't that great nor is the taste of the food served. You will have to choose the best from the worst. The dinner was just the same. Either no salt and no taste or extreme salt. We were not the only one's complaining about the food there. We saw several other guests complaining about the food. Would like the management to either hire a good chef or send him for training under good hands. Now a days Youtube is also doing a great help in that. Thank you for your hospitality.

location is on top of the hills but not near to market. you get great mountain views. food is fine. restaurant captain Siyan and team - Sibhajit, Mingona, Gyan are awesome! rooms were clean n service staff is good.

Very nice stay, nice food, very polite and honest staff, very clean,nit and beautiful rooms..., select this for pelling stay.
