Budget hotel in the heart of city. Walkable distance from metro station - equal distance from Park Street and Esplanade metro stations. New market and Park street are in walkable distance. Rooms are majestic and huge, in a 19th century building. Great way to experience history. Path in front of the building is full of road-side stalls, so bit awkward initially for out of town tourists to get in and out of the building. (We visited in November 2024)

The staff are simply wonderful. I was very comfortable here and it felt like hone. Its basic, but really quite comfortable. So very well located.... Breakfast to your room or room service for other meals. j Just lovely staff..

Location was good - in the middle of a market area. Close to lots of shopping and food choices.|Its an impressive building and still used as a youth club - which concerned me due to the lack of security that brings. It was very easy to get to any area of the hotel without passing reception or any kind of security|The building was under significant refurbishment but other than workmen and dust in the common areas, that didn't disturb us|Room was very big|Wifi very poor

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and impeccably clean. What truly sets this hotel apart is its unbeatable location — right in the heart of the New Market area, perfect for shopping enthusiasts. It’s also conveniently situated next to the Indian Museum, a must-visit attraction. Major landmarks like top malls, Burra Bazar, Howrah Station, and the airport are all easily accessible from here. The hotel staff were polite, professional, and extremely helpful. A special thanks to Mr. Debashish for his exceptional service and for making our stay so comfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay at this atmospheric old-style property. There were one or two issues with the room - one of the windows couldn't be closed, potentially letting in mosquitoes; the latch on the door lock couldn't be used when the door bolt was secured. Excellent wifi. Very friendly service at all times. Central location, yet relatively quiet in the room. Very good complimentary breakfast.

My son and I went backpacking in India for five weeks during July and August 2024. Generally our experiences in budget hotels were excellent – see my other reviews – but unfortunately the Seacom Inn YMCA in Kolkata was the one exception. On our first night the AC broke and it was nearly two hours before we were finally settled into another room, after many complications. I asked if I could keep my medicines in the fridge – a simple request that had not been a problem in any other guesthouse we stayed in – but for some reason at YMCA this request proved to be very complicated to deal with by the staff. Initially I was told I could leave them in a fridge, but I was ‘not allowed’ to see the fridge or take them to the fridge myself. After seeking special permission from the manager to do this, I eventually got to visit the fridge but was told I couldn’t access the medicines myself, someone else had to collect them for me. After a couple of days I finally learned that the fridge was not working, but nobody had thought to tell me. And so our experience went on with issues like this. I asked for a discount from the manager to make up for all these problems – which again became very complicated and manager seemed to blame me for making his job more difficult – and he eventually and reluctantly gave me 200 rupees discount; a very small amount which was barely worth the hassle we had to go through to ask for it. I should add that some of the staff there were lovely and were very helpful, so I am not criticising them, but overall it seems the place is not being well managed, is bureaucratic and is ruled by what ‘the system’ allows or doesn’t allow you to do rather than wanting to make the guest comfortable. It lacks the family feel of all the other budget places we stayed in during our time in India. It’s a shame as the building is beautiful and it is very well located in central Kolkata. Maybe we were just unlucky, I hope others have a better experience.

I have stayed 3night at YMCA and had good experience. However, this time after booking, Front desk people seem good. Room is Big and clean, AC is set at a certain temperature but good enough to provide cooling. A kit was given with soap, shampoo, tooth brush and stuff which is good. Bathroom was clean and hot-cold water available.Bedsheet was little torn but clean, Towels were clean too. Locating is mind blowing, food joints and everything is walking. Famous park street is walking and metro station is nearby. Taxis are available right outside YMCA and Museum is next to the YMCA. If going, don't keep very high expectations but yes the money I paid have no complains as such.

A very nice hotel in low price category around this area. Rooms are very large, it's very old building so have a heritage vibe. Bed is comfortable all amenities are working. Washroom is also kept clean. They provide fresh towels, toiletries also. There is a restaurant also so you order food in the room, I didn't order much, I am tea lover and didn't like the tea much here. Stay was very comfortable staff is super helpful and nice.
