NillI had a great experience during my visit. All the staff were friendly and attentive, especially the front desk and valet. The servers always walk around with a smile and make general conversation. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and pillows. The view was great! The location is perfect. In walking distance of restaurants and gift shops which made getting around a breeze. I definitely saved money, not needing an uber. I don’t have one single complaint. Would recommend and return!

★★★★★I recently stayed here for 4 nights for a work-related meeting and I was sorry to leave. First, the service at this hotel is truly remarkable—whether its the housekeeper warmly greeting me every morning, the desk attendant at the gym/spa who offered to give me a tour, or the manager, Brian, who changed my room after my first night to one that better met my needs, everyone went above and beyond and was friendly. Second, the location is excellent, with many top Anchorage restaurants and gift shops nearby, including the hotel’s own wonderful stores. The top floors of the hotel boast beautiful views of the Cook Inlet/mountains, or the Chugach range. Third, the Crow’s Nest bar and restaurant have excellent cocktails, views, food and especially service. And finally, while I agree with the reviews that the rooms and hotel are a bit worn, the rooms are clean and spacious enough, with windows that actually open. I will absolutely stay here again next time I’m in Anchorage!

NillEven though we didn’t see downtown Anchorage during any of the short daylight hours as our activity took us away from there during the day, we were very pleased with the hotel and all the amenities we used. The bed was very comfortable and having a junior suite, it was nice to have the extra space. If ever back in Anchorage, we will definitely stay there again. We were there during the Christmas season and the decor was beautiful. I especially loved the room with all of the Christmas trees!

NillI stayed in this hotel for over 5 months... it is my home in Alaska. What makes them different from any other hotel in Anchorage... well the weather does not seem to affect their hospitality. They are warm and caring with their guests. When they get to know me, they took care of me, they made me feel special. I leave very early in the morning and they prepare my car, warm and ready after my breakfast. I miss them... great people and a great team!

NillLocated in the heart of Anchorage, Hotel Captain Cook is a small city all of its own. Spacious conference rooms, excellent restaurants, wonderful shops, art exhibits, barbershop, exercise facilities… it’s all available at Hotel Captain Cook. On a cold day if I wish to hide inside, no problem, tons of room to just relax and catch up on a good book. That being said, there is so much to do in the Anchorage area and Alaska. From hiking on nearby Coastal trail, or glacier, or simply taking a train to other destinations there is enough to occupy your time for weeks! I will add as many pictures as possible and from time to time return to this post and continue to update the area where I took the photo. The rooms are generous in size and clean. Plenty of room to relax and hangout. My only suggestion for the hotel staff is to add more charging options. Lamp on desk and alarm clock on bed stand needs help. Finally, the staff. Outstanding. In my years of travel, I have been to the Hotel Captain Cook over a dozen times. I have always had an excellent experience with the hotel staff. Very professional.

NillRooms were great and very spacious. There is no fan in the restroom, however (just typical of older hotels..not much you can do). One window we could open for a blast of fresh air, which was fantastic. I would've given 5 stars across the board, BUT they charge you $100 on account for "extras," but do not reimburse you until a few days later AFTER you check out. No biggie, but it feels mildly greasy to do.

★★★This hotel has some history but seems to have been trading off it ever since. Prices are high and not worth it. Its a huge hotel, feels very empty and hollow. Rooms are very old school, needs renovation. Took forever to get hot water in the shower. Staff are not pleasant or welcoming. Can't think of a nice thing to say about it. I think there are plenty other places to stay in Anchorage for better value (and who knows, maybe a smiling, warm, welcoming staff member?)

NillFor the amount of money they charge for rooms, you would think that things wouldn't be so outdated and old, or breaking. The bathrooms always look dirty, things are broken or falling apart. Other than that the service and employees are great! Always feel welcomed when we stay.
