Sonesta Select Tempe Downtown

We first stayed on ‘day use’ before our flight. When our flight was cancelled, we booked back in for a few days because we enjoyed the hotel so much. We stayed in the ground floor rooms with courtyard view and easy access through courtyard into the pool. The staff are super friendly and I will give special mention to Kevin Granier & Angela Williams for their help during our stay in finding us the right rooms & facilitating late check out. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown & convenient for cafes & restaurants within walking distance, and being close to public transportation options. Thanks all for a super stay.

This place was just fine. I enjoyed the room, the pool and the lobby. Best of all, it was close to the airport, shopping, restaurants, and grocery stories. There’s a small convenience store that came in handy for late night snacks and drinks. The front desk was also extra kind for offering me milk for my baby at no extra charge!

Basic hotel. Good for one or two nights. Its biggest draw is its proximity to Tempe Beach Park. That's about it. They charge $17.50 for parking, but offer no security or preference. We were told at check in to keep our spot if we didn't have to drive, because people steal their spots and they don't have security. There is no parking ticket, so no way to even confirm if the cars belong to guests. The gate is broken and laying on the ground. Doors to rooms and outside are very loud. Soundproofing is sub-par between floors. Mattress is very firm and pillows are so soft they offer absolutely zero support. Bring your own pillow if you can to avoid neck injury. Breakfast is not included. Knowing all this, I would stay here again, but ONLY because of the hotel's proximity to Tempe Beach Park. And I'd bring my own pillow. Everyone I interacted with seemed downright miserable.

We have stayed here a few times and it has been great every time. Welcoming lobby, clean, in hotel cafe. Room was clean and cozy. Our. stay when we needed an adjoining room for kids was made easy. Everything felt safe and clean, the room was quiet and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. Will stay here in the future as a preferred place to relax.

The aesthetic is pleasing enough but that's where it ends. The girls behind the counter seemed half out of it and barely cracked a smile. The carpets everywhere are stained and disgusting. Room is dark and dingy. The P-trap on the toilet was not connected so when we walked in it smelled like sewage. I asked for a ground floor room they didn't have one but advised our room had a balcony. When I tried to go out there the screen door fell off. Breakfast was $30 for two microwaved sausage and egg biscuit sandwiches and coffees. We stayed here before and was not bad. This will, however, be the last time we stay here. Sayonara Sonesta!!

Room is fine, service is fine, location is good for short ASU class. What’s not fine: room key had to be recoded 3x in an evening (3 separate cards) & ice machine doesn’t work. Kinda frustrating when you’re trying to get in to do homework.

Christina L. Was friendly and welcoming as we arrived. My whole family were happy. They noticed my birthday and wished me birthday wishes. Hotel was clean. Room was clean. Wish we would have stayed longer. It’s near a bunch of restaurants and bars. Highly recommend it here. Even the maintenance guy wished me a happy birthday. Thank you guys. Made me feel like family. Parking was easy near by but you do have to pay. They have a gym and heated pool. We will return.

Our reservation was for Friday April 4th. At booking I paid for early check in,so to verify we called the evening before and was told yes we could check in at 12. My husband called back with our reservation number to verify and again yes 12 check in. We get to hotel close to 1pm on the 4th. Let me tell you the level of rudeness from the lady at the desk was unacceptable! I said we were checking in. She said we have no rooms available. I said we verified last night and paid for early check in. Her response was...you haven't been charged yet and there are no clean rooms. We will text when you can check in. Her tone, demeanor, short abrupt answers were awful. Well we have no choice so we go out to parking lot deciding what to do when others coming out of lobby saying how RUDE the girl was! So now there are 3 paying customers in parking lot standing there discussing how RUDE she was! Of course I did not get her name but from other reviews this problem has not been fixed! Whoever she is, your customer service was awful and yes put a damper at start of our trip with her attitude! I was praying she wasn't there when we returned to check in because I've had a few hours to decide either I'm going to have some choice words or give her a hug because maybe she needed one! When we returned to check in Christina was lady at desk and she was awesome! Don't normally write reviews but Sonesta needs to know! I forgot to mention I was told we would get a call when room was ready and at 5 pm nothing so I called front desk and oh yea it's ready.... Also just got our bill which has a fee for early check in! Unbelievable!
