★★★★★I must have "leaked" when making the reservation, that my wife and I were celebrating our 30 year wedding anniversary- and Yes there was a champagne and sweets gift basket waiting in our room. Additionally, the room had a beautiful lagoon and ocean view and a large patio where we enjoyed the wonderful champagne and great weather knowing it was 29 F in Chicago!||||Our daughter joined us for breakfast as she lives in Little Italy and when she showed the hostess the valet ticket for validation, the hostess waved to my daughter inferring that parking was not going to be charged and of course it was not. First Class Hospitality!||||Fabulous breakfast both days- and not to even get a bill for breakfast as the waiter said we had the "breakfast package." Being a Globalist is great, but your hospitality is way beyond any Globalist treatment my wife or I have received at any Hyatt branded property

NillThe hotel is very close to the beach, with a direct path for easy access. It’s also a perfect spot to enjoy both sunrise and sunset views. There are many rooms with beach views, but not many are located right in front of the beach, so keep that in mind when booking. The room was clean, well-organized, and the service was excellent. The hot chocolate offered during check-in was memorable, and it was nice to get complimentary sparkling water from the front desk. One downside was that valet parking is the only option, and it felt overpriced. The hotel’s on-site restaurants were mostly good, making dining convenient and enjoyable. However, some of the hotel events that were advertised during booking ended up being canceled during our stay, which was disappointing. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place close to the beach!

NillWe loved it at this hotel. Here's why: Check-in: Amazing! Everyone from the parking attendant to the front desk was professional, warm, and accommodating. We also loved the scent in the lobby. The room: The view was breathtaking. We were able to watch the sunset from the balcony, which is a memory we will always cherish. The decor was contemporary, clean, and functional. The amenities were high end. The hotel: All of the staff we encountered seemed to have a humble servants attitude with a high amount of professionalism. Everything was well kept, which is a hard thing to do next to the ocean. The beach: This is not your typical Beach; it's very rocky. Over the years, I'd guess the sea has smoothed out all the rocks so there are no sharp stones. It's beautiful to see how the sun glimmers off the rocks when the waves retreat. The pool: Such a treat since it's heated and has a gorgeous view of the sea. We were able to see dolphins off in the distance; others saw a whale. VAGA: We had breakfast included here as a Globalist. All of the food was nicely plated and we appreciated all of the detail. The food is incredibly fresh and high quality. Hyatt loyalty program: We felt like this property treated Hyatt loyalty members superb! We appreciated all of the effort they made for us. Checkout: Easy! Professionalism of the staff continued. We were sad to go.

★★★★★My sister and I recently stayed here for (1) day during the week. Here's a quick run down and rating on our recent stay: ||1. Service - Excellent. The check in person honored our early (1 pm) and late (4 pm) check out request and was very friendly providing us with excellent information on the resort and offered us the delicious welcome drink. Since we were celebrating my sister's birthday, they provided a card, sweet treats and sparkling water in the room. ||2. Location, location, location - fabulous location overlooking the Pacific Coast! We couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery. ||3. Room - We were upgraded to a Coastal View with a private firepit which was wonderful! Have wine & cheese while overlooking the coast and being warmed by the fire was delightful. We liked how the toilet was separated from the rest of the bathroom which enabled another person to use the sink area while putting on make up, brushing teeth etc. ||4. Activities: So much fun! We took an 1 hr+ walk along the beach area which was accessible via a trail from the hotel. Yes, the beach was rocky, but it was so scenic and beautiful with few people. We also took advantage of the complimentary yoga class at 8 am which was held overlooking the ocean. After yoga, we hit the circuit: sauna, cold plunge, heated pools for swimming laps and then the infinity hot tub overlooking the beach. It was such an amazing way to start the day! After brunch, we then utilized the FREE e-bikes to cruise to Encinitas for coffee and then headed to the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and walked the lagoon nature loop trail for 3 miles. The biking route was super safe especially on the dedicated biking lanes sprinkled with scenic views of the Pacific Ocean. ||5. Food - solidly good, not outstanding. We ate at the Vaga Restaurant at the Alila hotel for both dinner and breakfast. The views are fabulous. The dinner was good, but for the price ($62 for each entree) it was pricy and we expected a little more although we anticipated to pay a premium for the location. For breakfast we enjoyed the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. The entree was tasty but the juices were outstanding! The service for both dinner and breakfast was great!||I'm glad they changed this to an Adults only resort. I used a Free Hyatt Room award which provided tremendous value. Would we pay the full room price ~$800 to return again? Possibly. We had a wonderful time and the location is really the big selling point here while the service and amenities were great as well.

★★★★Stayed here for a few nights while visiting for business. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. $55/ day “resort fee” a bit steep on top of the high fare, given the resort features only a few amenities. Rooms were clean, offered nice amenities, and onsite restaurant offers great cuisine. Large gym as well for a hotel. Resort overlooks the ocean, but there is not much immediately in the area (besides beach). You have to take a Uber to visit offsite restaurants, coffee, etc. The resort does offer a “free” car service to drive you to areas a few miles down the street. Overall, a great stay, just wish there was a bit more to offer with the price you pay.

NillProbably one of the best Hyatts we’ve ever stayed in. Had fantastic ocean views from our room and I even got to see dolphins from our spacious balcony. The hotel as a whole and our room had tons of cozy yet modern components that really contributed to our terrific stay. The lobby had delicious hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows and gingerbread cookies. There is direct beach access and a huge hot tub. The pool is on the smaller size but heated which was nice. The hotel also offers electric bikes for rides along the coast. Would definitely recommend the Alia and would love to stay here again.

★★★While the Alila Marea is a fabulous location and designed beautifully, they have yet to attain resort status in the quality of food as well as the quality and timeliness of room service. Additionally, for an adults-only resort was surprised how early the on-site facilities closed given the resort itself is quite isolated for fine dining, drinks, etc. If they want to continue to cater to an adults-only crowd it would behoove them to have later hours at both the pool bar and fire pits, as well as at the actual restaurant and bar itself. While I was there for business and wasn't paying out of pocket, these things didn't bother me as much, however if I was there for a personal pleasure trip these flaws would have been much more frustrating.

★★★★★Best location in greater San Diego. Went with wife and kids for two nights while visiting the theme parks. Tough to leave suck a great location. Sad that’s it’s going adults only but I understand why. It’s a very intimate property. Restaurants are great, staff were very helpful and the pool area and views can’t be beat. Try to get ocean view room with a fire pit.
