It fit our needs. Was clean and had pool & hot tub with lots of chairs on top deck. It is an older place with wear and tear but is clean. Our lights on mirror had multiple bulbs that needed replaced as well as ceiling light bulbs that needed replaced. Outside traffic noise did not bother us with AC running during night. We have heard louder in the city so no problems. Is right across street from beach access and easy to walk to many places. $30 parking per day was extreme but nice to have in garage. Was easy to use app and have a front desk person during day and evening. We would go back again. It was priced right for what was provided.

The location and price are unbeatable! Beautiful beaches and everything is walking distance. We used the the pool and hot tub every day. The courtyard terrace is lovely. Service was excellent. Our room had an electric tea kettle, K-cup coffee maker, and mini fridge, which was very nice. Also, purified water is provided by the ice machine (hot or cold dispensing). This was a big bonus for us. Our room on the 3rd floor was very quiet. Our room felt a little small for 4 people for a week, but the outdoor spaces made it work for us. Would stay again.

I stayed at Sonder La Ensenada, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the best hotel experience. First off, they charge extra for early check-in or even a late check-out — even if it’s just 30 minutes. They’re very strict about it, which already felt a bit unfriendly. When I first arrived, I couldn’t get into my room — neither the electronic key nor the passcode worked. I messaged the support through the app, and while they replied quickly saying someone was coming, no one actually showed up. After waiting 15 minutes, I ended up going to the lobby, and they finally gave me a physical key. I was never able to get the phone access working, which was inconvenient since I’d planned to use the digital code. Later, I washed my hair and tried to use the hairdryer, which started flickering, making loud noises, and honestly almost electrocuted me. It was genuinely scary. I contacted support again and waited over 15 minutes before someone finally brought a new hairdryer — by that time, my hair had mostly dried on its own. I’m just grateful I wasn’t hurt. On top of that, the security lock (the top latch on the door) was broken. I didn’t feel safe at night and ended up using furniture and other items in the room to block the door and feel more secure. The noise level was also terrible — loud stomping above my room until nearly 1:30 AM, followed by construction noise starting at 7 AM. I didn’t get any rest, which completely defeated the purpose of staying there. The only positives were the spacious room and the affordable price — I paid around $120 for the night, which is a good deal for this area. But overall, there were far too many inconveniences for me to recommend this hotel.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ During our stay in Laguna Beach, we chose Hotel Sonder, and while there were some good aspects, our experience was a bit mixed. Let’s start with the positives—the hotel was clean and well-maintained, which is always a priority for us. The rooms were cozy and modern, with a minimalist design that made them feel fresh and inviting. The location was decent, providing reasonable access to the beach and nearby attractions, though not as central as we would have preferred. However, the service left something to be desired. We were surprised to find that the rooms weren’t cleaned daily, which made the stay feel less accommodating. While this might be a policy for some boutique-style hotels, it wasn’t communicated clearly, and we felt it detracted from the overall experience. While Hotel Sonder worked fine for a short stay, the lack of consistent service and the average location might make us consider other options for future visits to Laguna Beach. It’s a decent choice if you prioritize cleanliness and modern aesthetics, but there’s room for improvement in terms of hospitality and service.

This was probably one of the worst check-in I have had to face. I had to deal with people on the phone several times to understand that I had to be there by 11 pm to check in with an actual person. Unfortunately, Even if I was there at 10:50 pm they left early so I could not check in .(which was very hard for since I was driving from very far away without even a coffee break) Reception was closed and I had to go around the hotel to find parking, a way to enter the facilites, it was a disaster. Then it took me hours to check into a very bad room, which was underground, I could barely see daylight on the ceiling level. All around my room and parking was very old and they did not take care of the facility. I had no one to talk about anyone of these throughout my visit. They did not change my room. It was a very very bad experience.

The location was the best part, the rooms were clean, a LOT smaller than the pictures made them look, the facility was nice, the pool and hot tub was great. Not much to offer at the front desk, except the one microwave on the premise…. And the one couch, which I thought was in the room… it’s not! Nice people, great parking in the garage that you pay extra for, felt safe and cozy!

This place needs work. The heater was not working. We froze and got sick. Outside was 50 degrees. We asked the front desk to change our room, they said that was fully booked. They promised that for the second night they will fix it. However, We returned at 10 pm and still was not fixed and very cold. They gave us a small heater that did not change much. On top of it, they have spiders inside the room.

I didn’t like this accommodation too much so we left it early. We had a room on the first floor which was actually -1 floor because the pedestrians were walking above us. In the night it was incredible loud so we couldn’t sleep at all. The room was also stinky (bathroom) as well as badly equipped with stuff that didn’t work. Absolutely cannot understand the 4.1 star rating. Area is nice but expensive. No free parking and no breakfast options. Wouldn’t recommend
