NillHow does one speak with Gavin Fleming, the long standing general manager? I have been calling & emailing for WEEKS, while the staff have been assuring me he would return my calls/emails. Gavin has been completely unresponsive. He does not prioritize or respect his clients or staff. We were SO excited to plan our wedding here, but it has become impossible. I know we are dodging a bullet, as it would be hell to actually plan the wedding with an establishment & manager that doesn’t care. EDIT: I see you have responded to Jimmy Dendrinos review. You don’t see emails or calls from him because I have been calling/emailing. He was so frustrated with my experience he left you a poor review for me!! How about calling/emailing people back instead of playing the Google review game! This hotel is obviously trash & I will let everyone know of our experience. The employee on the phone, Ellie, has been so nice every time I call. I felt bad she had to keep taking my calls. Y’all need new management.

NillI recently spent two nights at the Inn at Sunset Cliffs, and highly recommend it for anyone interested in a beautiful and peaceful getaway. Our room was clean, and comfortable, with an unbeatable ocean view. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect stay. I can’t wait to visit again, 10/10 experience.

★★★We stayed in a 2-bedroom room suite for 4 nights at Christmas time while visiting local family. There appeared to be only a few other rooms in use, and the hotel was quiet, except in the morning when the pile drivers started pounding before 8:00 a.m. at the base of the cliff where a massive construction project to shore up the cliffs is underway. The project also affected parking, and we had to park on the street, which was not an issue given the low occupancy. The interior is freshly painted and bright with a beachy vibe, but some of the furnishings are downright shabby - the scuffed leather recliner looked like something you'd find out on the curb with a "free" sign on it. The sheets were threadbare. The windows are dirty. A cracked shelf in the shower. A dresser drawer was missing, with just a gaping hole, cupboard and closet doors stick and are difficult to slide. There's only one wall heater, the bedrooms were cold, and I couldn't find any extra blankets. The coffee is a packet of Folgers which isn't the best quality... We had to request a housekeeping visit each day because apparently it isn't automatically included. I didn't find that the condition of the hotel, nor the amenities, justified the rather high price.||On the plus side, the location is stunning, with a front row seat to the pounding waves, beautiful sunsets, and access to the cliffside trail. The outdoor amenities - pool, patio, picnic tables are very inviting. The beds were comfortable, and there are large flat screen tv's in each bedroom and the living room. The Wi-Fi is free and fast. The pool was heated, but we never had a chance to use it. Easy walking distance to many eating and drinking establishments in OB. This would be a great location for a family vacation in the summertime, or almost any time when it isn't so foggy and chilly.

NillWe rented out the Inn at Sunset Cliffs for our wedding weekend 10/14/2023 from Friday to Sunday. Gina and Gavin plus the entire Inn at Sunset Cliffs family truly went above and beyond to help us have the most incredible wedding. From the planning stages early on, Gina helped us with vendor recommendations, staying on track with planning tasks, and building our day of timeline. She provided endless support and kept things organized throughout the entire process and especially throughout the wedding day. Being able to have all our friends and family stay onsite through the entire wedding weekend created the most intimate and memorable weekend. We hosted our wedding welcome event in the pool area the day before our wedding. The ceremony was held on the cliffs just south of the Inn with stunning views. Our reception was held on the property looking out onto the ocean. Being along the cliffs meant we got to have some of the most stunning ocean sunsets in October which made for the most amazing wedding photos. My now husband had the luxury of staying in the Presidential suite with the most stunning ocean views to wake up to on our wedding day. The property of the Inn is meticulously gardened with the most gorgeous rose bushes and landscaping. The Inn provided such a warm, inviting space to celebrate with our families and created everything we could have dreamed of for our wedding day. Even now over a year after our wedding we are still hearing from our family and friends how much they loved our wedding and staying at the Inn. We love that as San Diego locals we can walk along the cliffs now, pass by the Inn and always remember our wedding day! The Inn at Sunset Cliffs will always hold such a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to come back and stay for future anniversaries. Can't recommend more as a place to stay or host your wedding day!

NillLooked into booking my wedding at this venue. They do not respond to emails or phone calls. It’s been weeks. Look somewhere else. 👎 Edit - Saw the owners response - check for emails or calls from Nancy S. It’s amazing how fast you respond when it’s public. We’re no longer interested.

NillUpdate in response to owners response: We were told by front desk that it was a druggie, not an elderly person. Interesting that the druggie had a key to the room and breached our secure door. Interesting that the owner was able to respond to this public review within hours but we still haven't received a call. Claims the front desk is 24/7 but that is not the case. Walking up the place is awesome! There's a pool with view of the ocean and huge deck next to the water. The room was clean except for some spotty mold issues in shower. That said, we had an unwanted guest that broke into the room around 2am. The door was closed and locked so the person had to have had a key. When we asked to speak to the manager we have yet to hear back because he is conveniently always unavailable. Our opinion is that it is an inside job giving access to someone to steal luggage. We had a newborn so we were obviously concerned for our safety and left very promptly in the morning after being unable to rest after having our door opened by a stranger in the middle of the night. The desk clerk was able to review video footage confirming this. Will update review if and when the manager ever gets back to us.

★★★★★Very nice inn with beautiful views of the ocean just steps from our room. Every staff member was super welcoming and friendly. The location was perfect for all of our events, easy to get to in just a few minutes. A number of restaurants and stores are within easy walking distance. They have live music on Friday-Sunday nights on the deck. The only complaint would be that the upstairs walkway is right above the ground floor rooms so you hear every single person walking/running upstairs if you are on the ground floor. Overall, a great place to stay. The views are almost unbeatable.

NillExcellent place to stay with a stunning view of the ocean. It's located at the beginning of Sunset Cliffs so you can take walks without having to drive somewhere to do it. I took many beautiful pictures there.
