avid hotel Savannah South - Gateway by IHG

The room was a clean boutique style....small but fine for the 3 nights I stayed. The hotel was quiet and the front desk ladies were pleasant. I didn't get down for breakfast. The only con is that they allow dualies with trailers attached to park up front. This means cars have to park in the back which doesn't give you a safe feeling at night (there is lighting back there). These big haulers should park in the back. I would stay again if I needed to.

We were greeted upon approaching the desk. Staff was professional and friendly. The check in process was efficient. Our room was fresh and clean. The bed was very comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. We recommend this Avid property.

I love the Avid Hotel Brands try to stay there if available where I'm traveling. I usually like to sleep to 830 am when traveling and go down to eat by 9am. At this location I was in the dining area at 9am and checked out the food situation. Granted Avid's don't have the best breakfast for a hotel but it's usually adequate and does the job before getting on the road again. I opened the scramble eggs warmer and observed the crumbs of the eggs that were previously there and went to ask the cook if she was making more. She said are they gone I said there are some crumbs and she went out to check. She opened the warmer and said is that not enough for you. I said no I would like some more. My wife had not yet come down either. She went on to explain that they close at 930am and she would not make anymore. Shen then proceeded to clean up some of the breakfast items. I said forget it then and ate a bagel. As I was eating my bagel other guests came down and looked at the breakfast and made comments about there not being enough food there. Every hotel I've been to never had a problem making more food no matter how close to closing time it was.

I was greeted with a smile from a friendly staff member when I arrived. She offered me and my traveling guest a drink and directed us to my room. The room was clean and spacious. I love the no carpeting, it always seems much cleaner. Breakfast was ok, but I would recommend more choices for breakfast. Other than that, it was a fantastic stay. I will probably stop on my way back next week.

I'm a long time traveler and I've stayed in IHG hotels 50-150 times a year for nearly 30 years. This Avid location is always well kept, and the staff is very friendly. They have a well stocked pantry and plenty of parking. Close to the highway, but located in a wooden area so nice location. About 15 minutes away from Savannah. Two restaurants across the street. Nice stay!

Location is great for quick access for I95 travelers although limited nearby restaurants. Rooms are new and clean but Microtel size and spartanly furnished. Cheaper rates can be found using Hotel discount books. Free breakfast is reduced selection of standard fare offered at most hotels.

The hotel was clean and offered everything needed for our stay. I do have to mention the staff of the hotel. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and polite, it was very refreshing. We were met with smiles and greetings every time we encountered an employee. What a wonderful way to start and end our day!

This AVID didn't exceed my expectations of other AVIDs I have stayed in because someone left their toothpaste in the shower and it stayed there and the floor of the shower was greasy and had dirt marks on it. However, I still recommend the property because everything else was great and I felt safe on the first floor, there is a restaurant right across the way too which saved me from driving. AVID hotels are streamlined from other IHG hotels and the price is usually better. This one was a bit more expensive then others I have stayed at but it is tucked away on a side street off of I-95 so it was very convenient. We had a very comfortable bed.
