Overall a good stay and a quiet hotel, BUT it appeared only 1 elevator was working and that elevator bounced when it stopped at each stop - kinda scary. Also, my shower head was hanging out of the wall. I was still able to take a nice hot shower.

I stayed there the second week of February 2025 for my job assignment. When I was check-in at 10 pm I heard a terrible noise - it was a train passing by. I asked for a room as far away from the train as possible. I was given a room towards the end of the halway, but window was facing railway. Noise was not a big problem, maybe just once or twice during entire weeks stay. During chek-in I was informed that the room service comes to clean once a week - quite a surprise. I was also informed that the first two water bottles were complimentary, and then I would have to purchase them. Two complimentary bottles per week - interesting. Luckily, there is a good food store in a walking distance (this is the only benefit of the location - one food store and two good places to eat - sushi and the sports bar on the corner). When I entered my room, bed was made, but pillowcases were wrinkled. I put pillows aside and never used them. I did not know what to think - this hotel doesn't iron their beddings or they forgot to change pillowcases from previous guests. In the morning I went to get breakfast. Coffee was just brown hot water, juice - water with a hint of taste. I got an egg sandwitch, hoping it was the safest bet. But no - I got food poisoning. Next day I switched to hot oatmeal and walked to the store for my coffee - for the rest of my stay. I was excited about swimming pool in the hotel just to find it was closed "for maintenance" - must be seasonal. What perplexed me most, was the guy at the chek-in desk. He could be my son's age. Every morning I would pass by, hear nothing, say "good morning" to him - still nothing. Third morning I skipped the greeting step. The only cheerful and friendly person at the lobby was a lady on the check-out day - Feb 15. She must be the nice lady everybody mentions in their reviews. Though I really enjoyed fragrance-free toiletries, the lotion smelled like sour milk. Positives: room was spacious and quiet, shower was working well, and there was a fridge for products I got from the nearby store.. Bed was comfortable.

Unfortunately our experience was not great. I booked this room for my husband and kids and they had a difficult time. First, the advertised pool is NOT working and we were not advised until arrival. The bed in our room was broken and fell when my son sat on it. The breakfast was mediocre at best. The staff were pleasant though. When we requested, we were given a different room with a bed that wasn’t broken. For the $250 price tag I wouldn’t book here again.

WARNING: If you stay at this hotel, be prepared for false charges, poor customer service, and absolutely no accountability from Hilton Corporate.||||I stayed at Home2Suites by Hilton Champaign/Urbana from February 6-9, 2025, and, as a Hilton Honors Member and someone who has stayed in many hotels, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. ||||From broken amenities and unprofessional staff to false accusations and an unauthorized, fraudulent charge, this stay was a nightmare that hasn’t ended yet!||||Major issues with my stay:||||1. Poorly Maintained, & Mismanaged|| a) The entire hotel floor I was on reeked of a musty, damp smell from the moment I arrived.|| b) The pool was closed.|| c) The elevator was out of service, forcing guests (including families with small children and the elderly) to climb 3-4 flights of stairs. When I requested a room on a lower floor due to the broken elevator, I was told no other rooms were available.||||2. Loud, Unsecure, & No Staff Assistance|| a)I was woken up multiple times throughout the night, every night of my stay, due to paper-thin walls and loud guests above me.|| b)The adjoining room door was unlocked upon arrival, presenting a security risk.|| c)The front desk was completely abandoned when I tried to check out, forcing me to call them to check out over the phone.||||3. FRAUDULENT, UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES TO MY DEBIT CARD||A few hours after I left, I received a call from the front desk claiming I left a suitcase in my room. When I told them that was incorrect, they changed their story and said it was a blanket.||||Then, out of nowhere, they claimed I was being charged a $250 smoking fee for smoking in the room! When I questioned and disputed this charge because no one smoked in my room, they then changed their reasoning to a ‘smoke smell.’||The front desk staff was incredibly unprofessional—they laughed at me when I questioned the charge and completely dismissed my dispute. ||Hilton Corporate was no better. When I called their guest relations department, two different representatives hung up on me when I asked for their names and requested documentation.||||I was falsely charged a $250 smoking fee—despite never smoking in the hotel. When I disputed the charge, the hotel refused to provide ANY proof that smoking occurred. No photos, no guest complaints, no housekeeping reports—just their word.||To make matters worse, they charged the fee to a debit card I NEVER authorized for incidental charges. My hotel stay ($410) was correctly charged to the card I provided at check-in, yet they applied the additional $250 fee to a different card that I never authorized Home2Suites to use. I was not provided a receipt after check-out and only noticed the charge when reviewing the bank account of a card I DID NOT AUTHORIZE Home2Suites to use a few days later.||||Let me be absolutely clear: I NEVER smoked in this hotel. No one in my room smoked, and there was no reason for them to claim the room smelled like smoke. If ANY odor was present (more than the musty smell the hotel ALREADY had), it was residual from personal belongings, not from smoking inside the room. This was a completely false accusation, and they refused to provide any evidence to support the charge.||||I have spent weeks now making countless phone calls, sending emails, and conducting research just to get basic documentation that should have been provided upfront. On top of that, I’ve had to cancel my debit cards with my bank to have new ones issued due to this fraud and me not being able to trust Home2Suites or Hilton. Instead of resolving the issue, I’ve been repeatedly dismissed, ignored, and forced to waste an unreasonable amount of time fighting a completely unjustified charge and now have to take it further by filing consumer complaints, complaints with the BBB and the IL. Attorney General. ||||To make matters worse, this charge directly contradicts Hilton’s own smoking policy, which states that a smoking fee of UP TO $250 can be applied only if actual smoking occurs in the room. There was no smoking, yet I was still charged—without proof, without evidence, and without any accountability from Hilton or the hotel. They are blatantly disregarding their own policies to justify an illegitimate charge.||||Here’s What I Requested – And What They Refused to Provide:||||✔️ A Receipt listing the smoking charge - Receipt provided only states a charge for: “MISC Revenue $250”||✔️Photos proving any rule violation – Not provided.||✔️ A report from housekeeping stating there was smoke or damage in the room – Not provided.||✔️ Guest complaints about smoke from my room – Not provided.||✔️ Proof that I authorized the charge on my debit card – Not provided.||✔️ A written explanation of why they charged a different card than the one I provided at check-in – Not provided.||✔️ A copy of Hilton’s official smoking policy in writing – Not provided.||✔️ A written statement from Hilton Corporate confirming their refusal to refund this charge – Not provided.||✔️ An internal review of why multiple Hilton representatives hung up on me during my dispute and why Home2Suites staff was rude, outright dismissive, and unprofessional – Not provided.||✔️ Direct email addresses to a supervisor at Hilton Corporate and the general manager of Home2Suites - Not Provided ||||AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS—and be cautious of other Hilton-owned properties—UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK BEING FALSLY CHARGED FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T DO, with NO ACCOUNTABILITY OR OVERSIGHT from Hilton Corporate. Not only was I wrongfully charged, but the hotel also billed the fee to a debit card I never authorized, pulling payment from a card I did NOT provide at check-in. IF THEY CAN DO THIS TO ME, THEY CAN DO IT TO ANYONE. I WONDER HOW MANY "MISC REVENUE" CHARGES THEY COLLECT FROM GUESTS UNREASONABLY!

You would think with them being owned by Hilton it’d be a nice stay but unfortunately not. Staff depending on which front desk clerk you get may be accommodating. A couple of the others were just playing in phone and very rude. Pool still is under maintenance as it’s been for last couple of months. Elevator wasn’t working for majority of my stay. I’ll give it to them, the house keepers, they keep the place semi clean however it’s a certain stench in the hallway that’s unforgettable. Vomit covered with fabuloso would best describe it. Upon entering my room it was clean, smelled clean but apparently animals are allowed at this hotel which isn’t an issue but finding dog hair over the appliances and in the fridge is. Once again house keeping was very accommodating when needed more towels. Be sure to read their online policy because although Illinois has legal recreational use and per policy they have designated smoking areas. If you leave any remnants of Mary Mary you’ll be charged the $250 smoking fee. Even if not smoking in room, even if clothes and belongings don’t smell like smoke. No complaints from neighbors about any smoking. You will still be charged. They have a sister hotel just north of this location that I’d recommend, Ihotel I’ll recommend that is in same proximity. I would not recommend this hotel at all. I’m a trucker so I travel often and stay in Hilton hotels often. This hotel brings shame to the Hilton name. Don’t believe me. Spend your money and stay. If I’m wrong okay cool we don’t share same taste in hotel. If I’m right you can’t say you weren’t warned. Location 10/10 everything else “no-go”.

BEWARE!! I woke up and had discomfort in my lungs, I went into the bathroom the next morning and noticed black mold growing near the ceiling. I started looking closer at the room and found old fries, meatballs etc around that was never cleaned up. Couch had "weird" stains and the hvac made a really bad noise while running. This hotel did NOT meet the cleanliness, welcoming and high end experience Hilton has to offer. Hilton should pull the licensing from this owner...

The young lady who took care of us was very personable. She made the checking in process go by quickly and with no issues. We did prepay for the room online in advance. So she only needed a license and credit card incase we broke something. (Which we did not.) It charged the card $40 and then that $40 was refunded on check out day. It was quick and efficient. The room itself was very impressive. It was modern with a LOT of storage space!! I love my drawers, closets, and desks!! The queen suite delivered!! It featured a beautiful fully stocked kitchenette with full sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and garbage disposal! It did NOT have a stove top or oven. After that there was a cute livingroom area with a couch that pulls out into a bed, 2 end tables, a footstool, recycling bins, a dining table on wheels, and a LARGE desk with shelving above and 1 chair on wheels. Next was the deep drawered dresser with a large modern 42" TV on it. There was a partition or room divider that pulled out for bedroom privacy on both sides. Next was ANOTHER LARGE desk with shelves above and then the closet with ironing board, iron, and safe across from the queen sized firm mattress bed. The window covering was a blackout pull down shade that worked very well. The bathroom was spacious with pump soap, shampoo, and lotion. (No conditioner which I found to be odd) They water pressure was hard and amazing. really was impressed. I do wish we had more chairs on wheels, but I didn't ask. So that might be an option. IDK. There was a continental breakfast. Honestly though.. It wasn't that great taste wise. The waffles were good. But the juice was very watered down and the eggs were edible, but not good. They have a snack bar, business center available in the main area you walk in, free wifi, a workout room, and a pool. But the pool was down for maintaince and we weren't informed until after we checked in. There is parking all around the building. So potentially, an RV could park there if they are staying a night or so. But I would call in advance to make sure BEFORE booking. Also, although there are a lot of parking spaces, the majority of them seem to fill up very quickly by the end of the night. (We were there on a weekend. So that could have been why) The location was great for us. It was 10 minutes from our activity with lots of restaurants to choose from in-between. It is definitely a hotel worth coming back to! We enjoyed ou4 overall experience.
