It's the warmth and professionalism of The Ambassador Chicago's staff that make this hotel stand out.||||The building is gorgeous-especially the lobby. Location is terrific-- in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast, a few blocks from Lake Michigan.||Some rooms are a bit dated now, but the housekeeping has always been impeccable when I've been there, and the beds and linens are very comfortable.||||But it's the people who work at the hotel who are really outstanding.||||A few years ago, I was at The Ambassador for weeks when a close relative was dying. I will never forget the kindness of the hotel staff, especially Wayne, who was often at the front door when I returned to the hotel after a difficult day. ||On more recent visits, Sam and Felix have been so welcoming and helpful. They make you feel like you're coming home when you come to The Ambassador.||I love the place because of people like them.||Also, Akira at the desk is very sweet.||(I wish I could remember the names of more of the staff, I'm sorry. But they're terrific.)

Well appointed and comfortable, with a hidden gem of a restaurant for onsite dinning. Excellent service in the heart of the Gold Coast. Only complaint was the rooms were extremely drab- which is something to expect in an older property but the art on the walls was so minimal they added zero color to the grey walls. If you don't expect to spend a lot of time there, which you shouldn't because there is so much to do in Chicago, you'll be fine.

The Ambassador Chicago Hotel is a fantastic boutique hotel with a long history and a truly classic atmosphere in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. We were very pleased with the service and hospitality from the great staff of this hotel. Kenzie and Stephen, at the front desk, made sure our stay was comfortable and that we were satisfied with the accommodations. They and the other staff worked hard to ensure we were provided with the best service possible. If you stay at this hotel, you must stop in the bar (the old Pump Room) to meet Armanii. He is by far, the best bartender in the Hyatt chain of hotels. His version of an Old Fashioned is nothing more than 'magical'! We will definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in the Chicago/Magnificent Mile area.

Room is tiny. Reminded me of rooms in Tokyo. Bed is small and low to the ground. Sheets, pillow cases and towels were spotless - no complaints there. No coffee or hot water in the room. Coffee was very good, but only available in the lobby (free from 7 am to noon) or in the restaurant (not free). Only parking is valet for $65/night, but that's probably the norm for downtown Chicago. Treated rudely at check-in when I inquired about tax exemption for a state agency. The concierge and valet were very pleasant (I tipped them well).

My review of The Ambassador Chicago is long over. ||Given less than 24 hours to be with my dying friend before he was gone, I dropped everything & made my way to Chicago from Charlotte as fast as possible. I believe in celebrating life, creating memories together & showing our friends we love them while living. We shared a few hours before he died the evening of my arrival. ||Kenzie & Stephen of the Concierge Team were incredibly kind, caring, & professional. The valet who took my car, the baggage team, housekeeping - every staff member I interacted with were lovely, helpful & smiling. My room was fantastic with a small view of the lake & gorgeous architecture of Chicago. A difficult time in life, but I could not have asked for more. ||Beautiful hotel. Beautiful Team. Thank you.

The hotel is located in the beautiful Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago on State Parkway. We walked to restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel staff was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. The room was basic but clean and had the amenities needed for our stay. We received full housekeeping service daily. The lobby bar was great to meet friends. The bartenders were friendly too. Chef LaVar provided delicious breakfasts and appetizers for us. He looked after us and made my birthday special with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. It was great to be surrounded by a caring hotel team in a wonderful neighborhood.

I have stayed at this place at least five times. It’s my go-to when I’m in town. It’s clean, the counter staff are great, the little gym downstairs is usually empty, it’s a block from Lake Michigan and the bike path.. I could go on. The rooms aren’t cutting-edge-new but I find them gently dated in a Gold Coast kind of way- a really nice renovation was done a while ago and it has held up. Literally my ONLY critique is that the walls aren’t super sound-insulated. This last trip—for the first time ever— I had noisy neighbors and while I was too chicken to ask the front desk to help me, I should have. You can hear loud conversations and also TVs if the volume is cranked. It’s not a deal breaker, but I do find myself forever wishing for silence. Overall a 10/10 for me,though. Will be back.
