Des Moines Marriott Downtown

This property offers a nice place to stay in downtown DM. It is on the corner and has valet & concierge service. They kind of expect everyone to valet when you arrive to check in (you can check in ahead of time, also!). There are many parking ramps just a couple of blocks away and the max is only $10 each day! Also, there is street parking with meters. If you do not have the bellhop help with your luggage, do not expect to use their dolly. Just carry your things yourself. The lobby offers a bar, the helpful staff, and plenty of places for you & your group to gather (we utilized this late at night after my son's wedding--staff is awesome about ordering pizza & bringing down your own drinks & snacks). The room was very nice & has a fridge, but no microwave. I requested one & they delivered it that night! The fitness room is AWESOME--best I've experienced with a hotel! One downfall was that they asked upon arrival if I wanted our room cleaned every day & I answered, "yes". They did not comply until I complained. They did bring us towels very quickly. This hotel was PERFECT for our needs. Would highly recommend.

2 night stay. Found the all white bed spread had larger than quarter size stain,1 blood i assume. Not from me. So asked at front desk to have it changed out, said it would be done. I had even folded the bed spread open to easily see the stain for housekeeping to see. I thought! Nicely made bed that evening, late, when i returned. Forgot about it and went to sleep. 2nd morning, checked. Same bed spread, same spot. If details make memories, I will remember this one.

Everything you'd expect of Marriot. Checking in was a breeze, and we used the valet service since we were from out of town and parking offsite didn't seem practical. We could take our car out whenever we needed so it was worth the $36/night. Room was good, clean, and we had a corner room with good views of the city. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Location is great, easy walk to the sculpture park, and other downtown sights/food/etc.. We saw a show at the civic center and the walk was quick from the hotel, even though a shuttle was an option.

Positive: Phenomenal concierge & valet staff. Can't say enough about them. Negative: Wasn't aware it was valet parking prior to arrival. It worked out fine and I understand why it was due to it being downtown and all, but didn't expect the additional expense.

Excellent location, the skywalk is extremely helpful especially since temps were highs of single digits and lows in the negatives. There’s a lot of rooms and space to have events and conventions and the building south of the Marriott not only has a public parking garage, but a food court to easily be able to find food to quickly grab between workshops. Only 4-5 blocks east of Temple Theater, and Stoner theater. Lots of restaurants around as well for options as well as skywalk access to The Hyatt and Renaissance hotels. A quick 3-5 minute drive from places to stay on the other side of the river making that easy to navigate as well.

Came for the KCACTF Region 5 Conference and was so blessed by the comfortable room, amenities, and most of all kind, friendly, and wonderful service that went above and beyond! Highly recommend - thank you to the Marriott staff for a great week.

Comfortable stay overall. There was no room upgrade, but they added my Marriott number to my reservation and assured me I would get extra points since the executive lounge was closed during my three-night stay. It linked to my Bonvoy app but then disappeared after checkout. Hopefully, it will be reflected shortly. The breakfast buffet was good, and the stay was comfortable. The hotel is a short walk from the Saturday Des Moines Farmers Market and lots of great restaurants. The staff was super friendly. I appreciated the laundry facilities, though I didn't see any soap in the market downstairs. Fortunately, there was a stall giving free samples at the Farmers Market.

The Downtown Des Moines Marriott team was extremely accommodating, very kind, and genuine! Would recommend to anyone!! The barista in the coffee shop was so sweet!
