Residence Inn Des Moines Downtown

I believe he was the assistant general manager; I can’t remember. But it was Jim or Tim or something Nguyen- - - but his customer service was PHENOMENAL!! He was so personable to every guest checking in before me. And so polite and helpful when it was my turn. He also managed to help a customer while managing check ins. He was thorough in his explanations and did everything with a smile! Top notch! The room was large and very clean! Very satisfied and would highly recommend!

The room was nice,but would never stay here again!! The hotel was right next to railroad tracks and they put us directly above them!! Our room shook and they blew the horns 3 times going over the tracks below our room. It woke us up a few times in the night,the morning of check out,the water quit in the middle of my husband’s(Denis)shower and finally came back on a couple minutes later!! The room was nice,however with all the other negatives,we would not recommend this hotel!!

It's a very nice room. There are some issues with our bathroom door and sink. I would definitely stay here again.

Worst experience I’ve had in a long time. Room was not clean, didn’t appear to he vacuumed as there was hair in many locations of the room. There were a group of young men wrestling on the floor above me until midnight literally shaking the ceiling fixtures in my room so when I go to call the front desk the phone isn’t working. To top it off this morning there is no hot water. However, the man at the desk, don’t know his name had spiked hair and was working at 11:00 am, could have cared less about any of my complaints and promptly dismissed me. No apology. As I waited for my car I could see that he was very busy watching videos on his phone. I cannot recommend this hotel nor will I stay here. Such a shame as I have stayed her in the past and it was top notch.

I was given a key. Had to ask about parking- which is $20/day. Had to ask about breakfast. Lobby entrance is not very welcoming and there was a dumpster outside. The room was clean and location good. The coffee pot and iron were broken and they ran out of coffee at breakfast by 7:00. Lastly- if you stay here request the side of the hotel where the freight train is not 15’ from your room!

We met our friends here for the weekend. Hotel was clean with nice amenities! It was in a great location for walking around downtown. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area! We’ll definitely be back!

Had a ground floor room. Which I don't prefer. Every fixture in the bathroom was loose. Have stayed several times. Always very satisfied other than this time

Great location downtown and river adjacent. Area around the hotel was very safe and walkable. Perfect spot if you’re going to the weekend farmers market or to the Iowa Cubs game. Lots of bars and restaurants also nearby. We brought the dogs as it’s dog friendly and they had plenty of room to walk around and green areas nearby to explore. Service was wonderful and everyone working there was so kind to our dogs. The hotel is undergoing a little renovation which is good and needed. Rooms and carpets have some little rough areas that I’m sure will be updated but nothing major which would detract from your stay. Would stay again!
