Everything about this hotel is heads and shoulders above your average Hampton Inn. It is spectacularly located just steps from Lake Superior, the lakewalk, the Aerial Lift Bridge, and a plethora of shops and restaurants. It may well be the best located hotel in the city. Spend a few extra dollars for one of the many lakeview rooms. You won't regret it! The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The King rooms have a nice sitting area, which we very much appreciated. Housekeeping comes every other day, and they leave extra items such as waters, make up wipes, soap, etc. (I can't remember the last time I stayed in a non-luxury hotel that provided free waters with housekeeping.) They even have bottles of water available for the taking at the front desk. Those little things really make a difference. The staff is over-the-top warm and friendly, particularly the breakfast staff. The breakfast is the standard mediocre-at-best Hampton Inn fare. But the sitting area surrounding it is a joy - it has chairs, tables, and high-quality comfy couches overlooking the lake.

We came to Duluth to get away just before Thanksgiving and stayed with the familiar Hampton Inn brand because of the loyalty program and price. By far, this was the nicest Hampton Inn that we have stayed in the last couple of years. Don’t worry about the hotel, the view alone of the lake and the ore boats coming in are worth the stay alone. Fabulous for kids, but if you are a little short on the financing, stay here in the off-season, it came to around $400 for two nights with all of the taxes included. Less, if you are on the first floor or not on the lake side. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout and our room was spotless. Breakfast was the usual stuff, but well stocked and attended to. The breakfast area is surrounded by windows and provides another view of the lake and the lake walk, just steps away. This hotel permits dogs and dog owners will love the lake walk and surrounding areas, it’s very convenient. Honestly, we didn’t spend a ton of time in our room, we walked through the Bentlyville Christmas light display (6-7 blocks away), walked to downtown Duluth and walked to the Lift Bridge and port. None of this is further than a mile or so away. Even if you run into severe weather here, it’s another plus; the waves crashing in and storm out over the water puts on quite a show. We loved everything about the property, but the number of loyalty points to book it is excessive and we were unable to upgrade our room using points. A great property and lots of food choices nearby.

It was a lovely stay! We will be back. Have stayed in the area a number of times, and this was my favorite. Comfortable, quiet, easy, 10 steps away from Canal Park Brewery, nice hot tub and pool area, snacks available, decent breakfast. Thank you for the great service!

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was a little smaller but that may be because they gave us 2 queen size beds. The people working at the reception desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a good selection including fresh fruit. The man working the breakfast area was very hard working and kept everything well stocked.

I stayed here in August 2023 and enjoyed it. Paid around $300 then.|This time, I used points. What a difference! I got a small studio sized room with a tiny desk, on the second floor. The last time I was on the top floor. This time, I got woken up by the people above me thudding around at 10:30 p.m. The staff person called them, but I still heard them thudding around at 11:35-11:40 p.m., and again at 12:30 a.m. Then they finally settled down. Either the people above me stomped when they walked, or the building wasn't made with proper noise insulation from floor to floor.|Let's be honest, using points for a $300+ room in such a great location, I didn't expect a spacious room, but I did expect it to be quiet. I was told that the place was full, or they would have relocated me, and I didn't get the top floor, as I usually like, so I "lived with it." At least they were quiet after 12:30 a.m., and I left early, so I didn't hear them in the morning. |As for everything else, it was what I expected for a Hampton Inn: good breakfast, courteous staff, impeccably clean, comfortable bed. And the location is what you pay for. Right on the lake and close to lots of tourist things.|One other warning, not about the hotel itself, but the location. If you are near the big breakwater rocks, be careful to not pull your phone out when you are by them or on them. My non-prescription glasses went down between them when I leaned over to look down between the rocks, but someone fished them out for me. But I asked the staff and they told me that many people lose their phones to those rocks.

We spent a great weekend in Duluth, exploring the city and driving up the North Shore. This hotel served as our home base. The hotel is in a great location and it is everything you can expect from a Hampton property. I’m not sure how long this hotel has been in business, but the building is showing a little bit of age. We were upgraded to a lake view room, which was nice. However, our room smelled a bit musty and felt damp. I’m sure that was more because of the lake than the hotel management. The breakfast options were sufficient and the hotel staff members were extremely friendly. Overall, it was a great stay. I recommend this hotel, and we would stay here again.

Rooms why a 1 well start off with the conjoining door allows for no privacy you can hear the next door people just as well as they can hear you. Most hotels have a quiet time or just flat out respect for other people, parting until 1130 not respectful! Was not aware we could not leave are pets alone in room until we got to hotel and was made to sign a waiver saying we wouldn’t this information should have been given while my first contact with hotel on this matter. We were there for bentlyville opening was told a shuttle would pick us up, us and many other guest waiting for almost a hour with no shuttle we ended up driving over is what we wanted to avoid! The only awesome thing about this hotel was the gentleman and lady running breakfast you 2 hands down killed it daily! We will continue to stay at Pier B were their is more respect given by fellow guests and staff and they treat your pets like royalty!

We have been coming here every Thanksgiving night for 5 years and tonight were told that there are quiet hours at 9:00 and could no longer be in the lobby area where we were eating and enjoying memories after walking Bentleyville. What? Football game is on. Other people playing games, Bentleyville doesn’t close until 9:00. People were coming in laughing. The pool is open until midnight. Dogs are barking. Kids are singing in the hall. Quiet time at 9:00? Really? The clerk Shel was rude when we checked in and asked about if our rooms were ready and the 2 clerks tonight continued to be rude and disrespectful. We were treated poorly and won’t be back. Sorry you had to work Thanksgiving, but we paid for 5 rooms tonight and weren’t asking for much but a place to enjoy the holiday. It has always been such a welcoming place until this year.
