Americas Best Value Sandman Inn

We checked in mid march 2025. We always make a habit of checking the room for cleanliness before unpacking. Upon pulling back the bottom sheet we found a extremely dirty mattress cover! Covered in debris and yellow stains. Pictures below. My husband went to the desk and asked for a solution. We was offered fresh bedding, but the girl couldn’t figure out what a mattress cover was. When we stripped the bed we discovered the mattress was also extremely stained yellow. We probably should have changed rooms or checked out. But we was traveling with a sick baby and a dog, also this was close to midnight. The next day upon check out, I asked to speak to the manager to make him aware of the cleaning issue. He was unavailable. The lady at the desk gave a $20 refund in the room. 🤦🏽‍♀️ The hotel has no elevator. The price for our dirty room with 1 bed was $145 for 1 night. The place need serious work and honestly a cleaning inspection!

Rented a room through a 3rd party and website claimed they were "pet friendly". What that 3rd party site fails to mention is that they don't allow cats, only dogs. Spent a day travelling and wanted an inexpensive and cozy room to wind down in just to be told I couldn't have the room. Kicker is the amount paid is nonrefundable through the third party. Lots of hassle though met with sympathy and front desk staff was nice.

FYI, while the website claims the hotel is pet friendly, they only allow dogs. I was informed at check in that my two cats were not allowed. I just went through the booking process again to double check, and this is not explicitly stated anywhere. The closest I can find is a tooltip on the pet section that says "two dogs may stay with you for an additional fee". At no point does it list which animals are allowed or disallowed. They did cancel and refund my reservation, which is fine, but it put me in a very bad spot after driving for an entire day. Scrambling to find a hotel with vacancy that also allows pets was not fun. For the record, the nearby Hampton Inn was a much nicer hotel and took me and my cats in for an extremely comparable price.

This was hard to rate. For how absolutely horrible the service was, it was a pretty clean place. Room was clean, pool was clean, lobby was clean. When we arrived to check in there was no one in site. In the 20 minutes we stood there I rang the bell 15 times. I finally called while standing at the desk and no one was going to answer until they heard my husband tell me he can see someone in the back. I believe they were completely ignoring us or sleeping. They looked very tired (4pm) or high. It was awful. They also did not tell us anything about the facilities or if there was breakfast or anything. Luckily we just needed a place to sleep.

I paid, through an online travel agency, for a room at ABVI in La Grande OR for the evening of October 1, 2024. When we attempted to check in, the front desk clerk refused to honor the reservation. We were not allowed to check in, and no room was provided.||||My husband and I instead stayed at Best Western, located across the street. ||||When the online travel agency followed up with ABVI regarding the disputed charge, someone representing the hotel chain falsely claimed we had checked in and stayed in “room 123”.||||I want to reiterate, we DID NOT receive a room, nor did we fill out or sign a registration form. ||||Hotels typically keep registration forms for 90 days for legal compliance. ABVI should have a copy of our registration form AND be willing to provide it in response to our dispute about the room charge.||||I believe ABVI has an obligation to return the funds received.

Started out as a nice stay. But ended with me getting bed bugs bites. I attempted to make contact with them via email and ask for a refund. No response so now I am leaving a review. I also contacted the OR department of health as well, no response. I did also offer some pics of the bites for their review.

We stayed at this hotel last night, and while it’s a bit outdated, it has everything you might need for a convenient stay—washer and dryer, quick breakfast, a mini gym, and a computer station. The beds were okay, and overall, it was a comfortable experience. The only downside was being on the second floor and having to carry all our stuff, plus baby gear, up the stairs in several trips since there was no elevator.

Stayed here for 1 night in a non smoking room. The hotel did not smell or smoke. The room only had a light library smell. It was barely anything. The pool was clean, a little cold but it’s fine once you get into it. There’s a Wendy’s,McDonald’s, Dairy Queen and subway across the street. Along with a dollar tree down a block.
