My wife and I took a spontaneous trip to see Mt. Rushmore, and with funds being tight as a medical student, I just booked what seemed to be the most affordable while still having decent reviews. In previous Super 8 stays, I haven't had bad experiences, per se, but the bar was still set pretty low in my mind. Well, suffice it to say I was blown away at this place. Leah a the front desk gave us the most friendly and helpful service I think I've ever had at any hotel, offering us personal recommendations for places to explore or where to eat. The other staff I met were also very pleasant and conversational. ||As far as the room goes, as I said before, the bar was set low in mind, but I was pleasantly surprised by our accusations. It's no 5 star resort by any means, but it was clean, organized, and ready for use. The building is a little old, and the sink faucet was broken (not unusable. The handle to adjust the heat and pressure was just loose and free spinning. It took some finesse to adjust the temperature). The beds were amazing, though. Usually I don't sleep well at hotels, but my wife and I actually enjoyed one of the better nights of sleep in a long time, we were so comfortable. The heating and AC worked fine, the door locked well, they card keys had no issues, and the in-room appliances were perfectly functional. The wifi was a tad slow, but hey, who goes to Keystone to just stay in the hotel and surf the web? ||Breakfast was provided, but there wasn't much to it. I'd recommend going somewhere in town or packing food. It was just a brown paper bag with a muffin, a tiny carton of apple juice, a diced peaches/tangerines carton, and some dried banana. Basically airplane snacks in a bag, honestly. It'd be adequate for a kid, maybe, but not for an adult with an appetite for protein. No complaints, though, as I was greatful to have anything that I didn't have to make.||Definitely would stay here again! Only reason I give 4/5 instead of 5 is because of the sink and small breakfast.

We arrived without a reservation needing a room. Due to staffing shortages the manager was out and the office was closed. As we were about to leave a staff member noticed us, explained the situation but said there were a couple of rooms available. She then texted the manager, and a room was put aside for us. This was our 1st interaction with the staff and it was typical of their actions for the next 2 days. This is a great team and their efforts to make our stay memorable are truly appreciated.

This Super 8 was the best motel in our stay. The room was clean, the beds were comfy and the staff was helpful and attentive. Despite the 101 degree heat, the room stayed cool and we were able to sleep well. It's also located just within reach of downtown, and there's a mini strip mall right next door with several food options (as well as gift shops and an old timey photo place).

Great location, and as far as Super 8s go the room was clean, AC comfortable and all. Continental breakfast in a bag was what you'd expect. The highlight though was the manager on duty during our stay, Leah. Super nice, approachable, and did her best to help us with a Wyndham Rewards related issue out of her control (closed on weekends?). She also gave suggestions on how best to enjoy our time in the area, even drawing out a route on a map for us. Thanks so much Leah!

Positive: Excellent service, but I was surprised that our room wasn't cleaned the next day when we arrived. We got in late and we made sure we were out of our room by 11:15 so that they could freshen up our room, make the bed and etc. but no one showed up clean. Negative: No just not getting our room refreshed ?

Location was great. Short walk from lots of cool places. The room was... semi dysfunctional. The fridge didn't work. They did quickly replace it with another one though and the front desk allowed me to put my leftovers in their big fridge while that happened. The toilet.. the hose inside the tank that fills it up, came loose every other time you flushed so water came shooting out the back of the tank. Easy enough to push the hose back in the right spot but still. Did notify the staff of that as well. Breakfast was lackluster with it just being a brown bag of processed snack foods; Scooby snacks, Honey Buns, pop tarts etc. Just not the best way to fuel your day. We had to wait an extra 30 mins for breakfast on the second day as there is no night staff and the day staff couldn't get into the building until someone brought keys. All in all, meh. It was a place to sleep while we did other things. View was amazing, with Mount Rushmore being right around the corner. The A/C fan was great to help block out street noise. For being almost $180, I'd have expected a little better but maybe I'm out to lunch on hotel prices now. If little annoyances ruin your vacation, I'd maybe stay elsewhere

Our stay at Super 8 Keystone was delightful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel was well-located about 2 miles from Mount Rushmore, and directly across from Grapes and Grinds, a lovely wine bar and coffee shop with outdoor dining and a fire pit and excellent coffee. The staff was remarkably helpful, Leah in particular. She not only gave us fabulous recommendations on where to go and via what route(s)--she even brought in her sewing machine from home to repair my friend's backpack straps that had frayed! I most would definitely stay here again.
