NillOn the positive. It is close to port if you are staying here to board a cruise. They offer shuttle service and allow free parking of vehicles for cruise passengers. The staff member we dealt with was friendly and courteous. However. The rooms are outdated. Dinghy and not well cleaned. The bathrooms are small and cramped, and the tub is not well cleaned. The room had a smell to it that was a mixture of stale air from a filter not being changed and a possible spray in the room. The lighting was poor in the room as well. There are holes in the walls and very limited outlets. The very top banister in the staircase is broken with a sharp, jagged edge you need to watch for. And no, there is no elevator for guest. As well as railing falling. The pool looked unclean as well. I would not recommed staying here. Ever.

Nill2stars only because the staff was nice and friendly. The rooms on the other hand was another issue. Water in sink would not go down, refrigerator was frozen over with looks like something exploded in it because of the colored ice. Noisey as hell. I've have stayed at better motels far less cheaper than this place! Won't be visiting again. And why is the under Red Carpet Inn when it clearly is the Scottish Inn in the pictures!?

NillI gave a 2 because the facilities aren't a 5 star hotel but they are an incredible value for the price and they're unique and fun, Clean, and comfortable. Sam and his staff couldn't be more dedicated to their guests. Not sure what happened with some of the other folks experience, but mine was stellar.

NillWe stayed at this motel when we went on our first cruise, and did it again on our second. Clean, basic rooms, nice owners who will shuttle you to cruise port (but not allowed to go threw gate). Must be a permit thing, not sure. I give it a 👍

NillWe enjoyed our stay. The room and breakfast may be no frills, but it was clean and comfortable. The real plus was being able to leave our car in their lot for free while we went on our cruise.

NillMy family and I stayed at the Red Carpet Inn in Galveston two weekends in a row in June 2012. My family and I typically stay at nice hotels or resorts, but when we’re just planning to head to a gulf beach for the weekend, we don’t mind slumming it. While the Red Carpet Inn may not be the most upscale place to spend the night on the island, what it lacks in posh amenities is made up for 10-fold by the friendliness of the owner (Sam) and his family. I assure you, the hospitality here rivals what you’ll experience from any 5-Star hotel or resort. It was as if we weren’t slumming anything here. The Red Carpet Inn in Galveston is the perfect place to stay if you want to wake up and take a ferry to spend the day on the Bolivar Peninsula. The swimming pool is cool and clean – perfect for jumping into upon the return from the beach. The rooms were clean, the beds were firm, but the pillows were flat (we brought our own pillows the second weekend). The included breakfast consists of microwave sausage and biscuits, frozen waffles, toast, jelly, milk and juice. Since we planned to spend the day Crystal Beach the first weekend we were there, Sam allowed me to store my 4-door Jeep Wrangler hardtop locked in the vacant storage area across from the office. I doubt a Hilton would have let me do that! If that weren’t already enough, I took up Sam’s offer to help me put the hardtop back on when we returned. Sam’s a small guy – I’m not sure what I was thinking when I took up his offer to help (and please don’t ask him to do the same!) – my point is, the Red Carpet Inn is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you and your family happy, and that’s not something you usually experience from a place like this.

NillI have stayed at hotels all over the country and this is by far the worst. Where to begin, the hotel is old and rundown. It is at the end of a road close to the ferry. Late at night there is nobody around and I have never felt so unsafe. We pulled up late at night and there were strange unkempt guys roaming the parking lot, attempting to stop our vehicle and ask for money or who knows what. We walk into the room and it is dirty and has a general strange odor. There was no bedspread and the bed was unmade. I tried to open the curtains and the curtain rod and curtains all fell off. The tv didnt work. The bathroom walls and ceiling had water damage and the shower was disgusting, the toliet leaked horribly. I expressed my displeasure to the manager and that we wished to stay somewhere we felt safe and that isn't so rundown. He initially refused saying that we used the room even though we had only been inside for 5 mins. After more discussion he said he would refund the money and he walked off. We packed our bags and went to the office for our supposed refund and iINSTEAD HE HAD THE POLICE WAITING FOR US!!!. They then escorted us off the property. When I finally got to ask why they said the hotel owner claimed we stole the bedspread and threatened his life, unbelievable that the owner would stoop so low to keep someones money. The ownership only cares about your money, and once your at this dump of a hotel he will do whatever it takes to keep it, with lies and deceit if they have to. DONT STAY HERE EVERY HOTEL IN GALVESTON IS BETTER THAN THIS NIGHTMARE!!
