The staff is incredibly friendly & helpful. Great location to the beach, which is within walking distance and a quick drive to the cruise port. The rooms are so worn and need some desperate help in repairs & updating. The room smelled like they dumped a gallon of cleaner in there to cover something up. We stayed here for 2 nights over Thanksgiving weekend, and we did see a bug in the bathroom on night two. I don't recommend staying here until some major renovations are made.

We enjoyed our stay at Baymont by Wyndham. They called us about an hour and a half after check-in to confirm our arrival time. We drove straight there, checked in easily, and found the staff to be great. Instead of heading up to the room, we went into town to grab a few items and dinner. During our meal, the hotel called about an issue with an alarm in our room, requiring us to change rooms. We simply had to stop by the front desk to swap keys. The new room was very spacious, with a balcony and a slight view of the Gulf. The bed was great! The pillows were a mixed bag—some too hard, others too soft. The air conditioning worked well and maintained the temperature nicely. The hot water was consistent, but the shower head was a bit finicky with pressure extremes, and the water pressure was slightly below average. The area felt very safe and was just a short distance from Seawall Blvd. Breakfast was very minimal. There were no bagels, and the options were quite limited. Waffles were the only hot food available, with a couple of cereals, bread slices, and pre-packaged mini muffins. We ended up going to Shipley's Donuts nearby. The room had a mini fridge and microwave, which was convenient. It was also clean, and we didn’t find anything dirty. The price was a bit higher than we'd typically want to pay, but considering the prices of surrounding properties and our plans to leave on a cruise the next day, it was a good deal overall. Overall, I would give it a 5/5 despite the breakfast not meeting our expectations, as breakfast is always a bonus when traveling.

The rooms are huge for the price. Very clean. I gave a 4 only because our key didn't work properly and breakfast choice was awful. We waited to board the ship to eat. Front desk were very nice and professional at check in and out. I would definitely stay again.

I will start with the con and the reason for not giving this hotel 5 stars as soon as our credit card was used when checking in, we got a notification from our credit card company that the transaction wasn't secure and our credit card was now being stopped- awesome when you leave on a cruise the next day. Thankful we had another card with us!||PROs- Check in crew were super friendly and helpful. Two king size beds in the room were the reason we booked as we have teenage kids and usually book a second room, but with the two kings, it was fine for one night. Walking distance to the grocery store, maybe a 5 minute walk to get snacks, wine and soda. Cruise port is maybe around 15 minutes, so easy uber ride. Hotel overall was clean and rooms are large. We would stay again if cruising out of Galveston

Was a nice stay. Clean rooms nice service . Breakfast was okay but could be better. Staff was great. Night staff was awesome, nice and helpful. No complaints at all. It would be nice to have more variety on breakfast options. My daughter is Vegan and I love American breakfast with eggs and bacon. Just an idea.

German roaches. I killed one that was climbing the wall, not a big deal to me but my wife was horrified. The carpet was damp, which is probably why the roaches love it there. Then I woke up at 2am with one crawling on me. We couldn't sleep the rest of the night. We kept our flashlights on all night which stopped them from crawling on us. I told the front desk in the morning and asked how they would compensate us or try to improve. She looked at me like roaches are normal residents, completely unsurprised. No apologies, no compensation. She said "management will give you a call" which never happened. Roaches are one thing, but when they don't care to do anything about it, that's a problem

After Baymont's response: Thanks for your response to my review. However, if your staff would have acted just half concerned as you state in your response, I would have never posted this. Don't give us the fake we care about your stay reply. I just wanted a place to rest and would have faired just as well sleeping in my car vs. your establishment. Folks...stay away, it's a dump and they don't care after they take your $$. Due to a cancellation from another hotel due to damage from the recent freeze, we booked a room at the Baymont in Galveston. We stayed on Friday, January 24, 2025 and arrived between 7-8pm. This is probably the worst experience that I’ve had with a hotel in 40 years. Half-sized pillows that were either completely flat or hard. I could live with that but there were no blankets on our bed. One sheet and an empty duvet. The duvet had no filling in it whatsoever so pretty much two sheets sewn together. When we called the front desk to ask about getting an extra blanket we were told they’ve all been distributed. No blankets available. Understand it’s not a 5-star hotel but you should be able to get a blanket for what we paid to stay there. Avoiding this place from now on when we sail out of Galveston.
