3rd Coast Getaways – Loft on the Strand 201 Review We recently stayed in the Loft on the Strand 201 through 3rd Coast Getaways. While we loved the location, the spacious layout, and the balcony overlooking The Strand, the stay left much to be desired due to cleanliness and maintenance issues. Pros: - Location: Perfect for exploring Galveston with shops, restaurants, and attractions within walking distance. - Spacious Unit & Balcony: Plenty of room to spread out, with a nice balcony to enjoy the atmosphere. Cons: Unfortunately, the downsides of our stay really detracted from the experience: - Cleanliness: The unit was not properly cleaned or maintained. We encountered: - An ant infestation. - Holes and dirt spots on the walls. - Stained, thin towels and hair in the shower (not ours). - Sticky counters with wig hair left on the surface. - Maintenance Issues: The balcony door didn’t have a functioning lock, which made us uneasy. When I reached out to the manager, I was disappointed by the response. There was no apology or empathy—just a suggestion to use the ant spray under the sink. Later, I was told I could leave and receive a refund for the remaining two nights if the stay didn’t meet my expectations. While the offer was there, it wasn’t practical given that we were in the middle of a busy tourist area without other accommodations lined up. Additional Tips: - Not as advertised: The listing was inaccurate—the unit did not have a dishwasher, despite what the description indicated. - Strenuous stairs: Be prepared for a workout; the stairs are steep and require light packing. - Good for location-focused travelers: If you're looking for a convenient location and can tolerate mediocre accommodations, this could work for you. In summary, while the Loft on the Strand 201 offers a prime location, the lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, and indifferent customer service made it hard to enjoy the stay. We would recommend this spot only if location is your top priority and you’re willing to overlook some discomfort.
