Holiday Inn Galveston Island, an IHG Hotel

This location has to be one of our favorites and definitely will stay again. Mrs. Talia Richardson, the Operations Manager was absolutely fabulous. For her alone, we would stay again, and again. She was so friendly and was so sweet and kind. We asked for a great recommendation for some seafood and a view and she delivered 100%. She is a HUGE asset to this location. We have stayed at several IHG hotels and resorts and Mrs. Richardson was our favorite staff member that we have came across. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very nice and friendly but I believe Mrs. Richardson is the reason. When you have a manager that has a great attitude then you are going to have your staff follow. Breakfast was great too. Hot and fresh, very good!!

I would never recommend this place they almost doubled our room fee from when we originally booked. They also charge 150 incidental fee upfront per room and you “might” get it back within a week instead of doing a hold on the card. Our room was supposed to be 160/night and they changed it day of to 191. I originally booked three rooms for 555 after tax. With the rate change and the upfront fee, they wanted to charge me over 1k for our stay. Absolutely rediculous. Because we already had a vacation budget set, we only got two rooms and crammed 10 people into those rooms. There was also black mold in our bathrooms they didn’t give us new rooms. I’d stay away from this holiday inn. Pay a little extra and go somewhere else. Only silver lining is they let us park there while we went in a cruise but with all the problems, it’s not worth it.

Not a bad hotel, but a little off putting. It feels like an IHG hotel that isn't an IHG hotel at the same time. What didn't work: The room could have been better cleaned before we arrived, but cleaning got better intermittently as we continued our stay. The wifi signal was pretty weak and the television in the room was unsatisfactory (required two remotes, because neither one completely worked). The hotel restaurant was not open during most of our stay and most of the snacks available for purchase from the front desk were expired or on their way to be. I wish they would have restocked the coffee in my room. What did work: Climate control in the room worked well. Galveston isn't hard to get around, so it's a good deal if you'd like to save money and book further away from the seawall. Privacy was maintained. I slept okay. I probably wouldn't have an issue staying there again, but I'm not bringing my wife and kid. On the fence about recommending it.

Clean and updated room, but… The shower only had lukewarm water, even with the valve all the way in the hot setting. On top of that, the bath linens were in desperate need of replacement; the towels and washcloths were neither bright white nor soft to the touch. One of the bath towels even had holes in it, the kind that appear in fabric after being washed many-many-many times. Overall, the stay was fine considering I was there only one night; however, the shower experience would cause me to think twice about booking at this hotel the next time I’m in Galveston.

When we initially checked in, our room smelled like cigarette smoke. I promptly went to the front desk and changed rooms. The lady was kind of rude but said she would switch rooms but informed me it was the last one available. The second room smelled mildewy but was better than the previous one. The sheets and pillow cases were dirty which was frustrating. Also, there was no hot water for showering. Nothing like a cold shower on a cool rainy day. Wont be staying here again.

This hotel has been recently renovated. Overall the rooms are nice and clean. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Areas needing improvement were the bathroom linens and food items. The food items were all the microwaveable type which left cold spots. The linens were worn out.

This hotel has easy access despite being on the feeder road to I-45. Parking is plentiful and well lit. I had a comfortable, clean room (although I missed the housekeeping window each day) with a darkening shade so I could get extra sleep. The bathrooms had two odd quirks. One was that the soap and lotion dispensers attached to the wall were about 2.5 feet from the sink and the other was that the tub didn’t have a stopper so you can’t actually take a bath in it. There’s only one elevator for the hotel, and it can be crowded or slow. I didn’t use the pool or restaurant but they looked clean. There was a computer problem making check-in very slow. I wasn’t given recognition for my status—not a huge deal, but I missed the extra points. The lady at the desk during checkout was terrific. All in all this was a well placed and appointed hotel and I will be staying here in the near future.

Taylor went about and beyond for us this evening.. Very cheerful and smiling!!! Do not let this one get away.. Raise is my opinion but I'm just a customer .. And when Breakfast hits you in the morning. I would recommend it !!! Nevera Daughtry not only made us a delicious meal. But did it with a smile 😁 and with a positive attitude. And that's what really gets me doing reviews.. is Smile and positive vibes!!! Great Job Holiday inn with these two. Mom and I are leaving off on are cruise with a Smile thanks u two and holiday inn
