I’ve stayed at The Residence Inn in Tyler multiple times over the years while traveling for business, and it’s consistently been a reliable choice. The rooms are always clean, and the location is perfect—close to restaurants, shopping, and convenient for work. During my most recent visit, what started as a potentially frustrating situation turned into a five-star experience, thanks to the outstanding staff. When I arrived, my room felt warm and humid, showing 72°F even though the thermostat was set to 65. After a few hours with no change, I notified the front desk. While no other rooms were available, they quickly provided a fan and assured me maintenance would address the issue the next day. Sure enough, when I returned from my morning meetings, I was pleasantly surprised to find a portable AC unit had cooled the room to 67°F, and maintenance had already identified and begun fixing the problem. They even brought a vacuum to clean up their workspace and left the portable unit in place just in case. The way the staff handled everything—proactively, thoroughly, and with great attention to guest comfort—was truly impressive. This experience only reinforced why I continue to choose this property when I’m in town.

At this hotel the walls were so dirty so we tried to clean the walls the bathtub was dirty and handles were broken. ——written by my daughter. I stayed at Residence Inn Tyler this past weekend with my two daughters. I wasn’t expecting a luxury experience—it’s not a high-end hotel, and that’s totally fine. But the basic standard I do expect from any hotel, regardless of category, is cleanliness. Sadly, this property did not meet that. It was actually my daughters who first noticed it. When I asked them to take a shower, they refused because the bathtub looked filthy. The walls had visible grime, and the handle attached to the wall was loose. I took photos. At first, I thought the dark marks at the bottom of the tub were just worn enamel, but when I scrubbed it for 10 minutes, the stains came off—clearly it hadn't been properly cleaned. The walls were the same—dirty in a way that couldn’t be ignored. I told the front desk manager about this, and while they did say "thank you for letting us know," there was no apology, no sense of responsibility, and certainly no offer of compensation or solution. It felt like they just wanted to move on. I don’t consider myself a picky guest—I’m not a “Karen.” But I do believe that it’s because guests in the U.S. tend to tolerate poor service without speaking up, that some hotels get away with offering unacceptable conditions like this. In countries like Japan, this would never happen—not because guests complain more, but because service providers take pride in their work. They have standards, dignity, and self-reflection. That seems to be lacking here. On top of that, the air conditioning unit was extremely loud—it was hard to sleep through the noise. Even worse, in the middle of the night, we were abruptly woken up by the sound of the refrigerator’s ice maker. The noise was so loud and sudden that it felt like someone was using a power drill in the hallway. What made it even more frustrating was that we hadn’t even used the refrigerator at all—yet the ice maker still went off. I honestly couldn’t believe it. My daughters and I were startled out of our sleep, and one of them told me she couldn’t sleep at all after that. As a mother, that kind of night is extremely stressful. I chose this hotel thinking it would be a safe, restful place for my kids, and it turned out to be the opposite.

Overall a solid and clean hotel. Staff was nice, the suite room was very large and comfortable. Huge sofa, full kitchenette, and the room was ducked away from the living room suite for privacy. The decor was a little old and used, but not a big deal. The breakfast was free but was not good at all. Pool was great. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in Tyler.

Whitney at night and Arlyn in the morning were extremely professional and kind. They provided the most efficient and friendly check in and check out experience possible. Kudos to both for making our stay memorable. Overall, this is a very well managed property and it will be my go to for all of my upcoming trips to Tyler.

From the minute I checked in, I felt welcome at this hotel. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable. What I liked most about this hotel is the fact that it sits off the main road enough that you can't hear the traffic noise from 69/Broadway. Everyone I encountered on this visit was friendly and professional. I have been coming to Tyler for 7 months now off and on for business and this was my first time staying here, but it certainly won't be my last time! I stayed 3 nights and the doors close so quietly, you can't hear others coming and going from their rooms like you can in so many other hotels. I never heard any other person or any other door slam shut the entire time I stayed here. The best part of my trip is when I checked out, I left a bag of clothes in the closet and didn't realize until I made the 3 an a half hour drive back home. I immediately called the front desk and they said the message would be passed on to housekeeping. I thought my bag was all but lost, but the next morning at 9:00AM, I received a call from Arlyn letting me know that she had found my bag and they would hold it at the desk. Since I was unsure of when I would be returning, I contacted Arlyn back and asked her if I could have someone local pick it up for me and she was able to go by and pick up my bag of clothes that I left. This hotel has exceptional customer service and is the best hotel I have stayed in as long as I can remember. Great job to everyone at the Residence Inn Tyler for making my business trip easy and quiet. I will definitely be returning in the very near future!!

The rooms are a bit dated and there are nails coming up where the carpet meets the tile in room 432 . The breakfast is awful and $7 a day to park is a bit ludicrous. The staff is extremely kind and friendly but lacking communication skills . 2 days I had to call or stop by the desk 3 times to get coffee and toilet paper and one day I had to ask three times to get my garbage emptied . My room was never serviced in the 4 nites I was there but when I checked out I was told I had my do not disturb sign out which I never did . We finally had to just take coffee and toilet paper after the maids cart . It’s in a great location and very quiet

I would have given this hotel 5 stars id the bed had been more comfortable and if it weren’t so hot in the main sleeping area! Otherwise, great location! Close to Target, Walmart, restaurants. Half basketball court, indoor pool. Great little neighborhood to walk the dog or walk around the hotel. Landscaping was very well maintained. Quiet location. We stayed in room 225 and we could walk right out to the stairs and outside to let dogs out. Room has huge shower, very clean, sofa bed was actually comfy and that room was cool. Work desk, built in dresser, mid size fridge, cooktop and bar with tools. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 dogs. Security gate in back corner does not secure. Breakfast was your typical free breakfast. We skipped it and drove to Crema, a cute little coffee shop with biscuit sandwiches, muffins and gluten free options for those with Celiac. Would love to stay here again if needed, but will probably try another hotel due to being hot all night and not a comfy bed.

Charges a parking fee. In Tyler. This is not a congested downtown area. It's East Texas. Plenty of room. No garage or security or anything to give the parking lot any value. The owners just want to fleece you for more money because they can. I will negatively review any Marriott property that plays these unethical, cash grab games to make a few extra bucks off of their guests when it's not necessary. If you want more money, increase the room rate.
