Sonesta Essential Morgantown

Very Grateful to have stayed at the Sonesta Essential in Morgantown West Virginia. The VERY BEST FEATURE IS THE STAFF! I am so very sincerely grateful to LAURA, MEL, DANIELLE, DYLAN and CINDY! From Laura's wonderful greeting and making sure my accommodations were set, to Dylan setting up early breakfast and Cindy giving excellent housekeeping service. Everyone was super supportive and kind. The room I stayed in was comfortable, neat and tidy. I wish the bathroom had a hairdryer and I wish there was drinking water available in the commons / dining area. But other than that, I would gladly return. Thank You again LAURA, MEL, DANIELLE, DYLAN and CINDY!

While the staff were kind and helpful, their efforts were overshadowed by the unacceptable condition of the rooms. The security was a major concern; the door didn’t require a key to enter, as it could be easily opened by slipping a card through the large gap and manipulating the latch assembly. I was shocked to find a used bar of soap in the shower during my rinse. The sheets and comforter appeared to have not been washed in a while, adding to the overall sense of uncleanliness. Given the state of the accommodations, a room rate of around $6 would be more appropriate for this establishment.

This hotel is located right near the highway exit which is nice. Overall, its "fine", but don't expect anything above average. I would not recommend this hotel for single female travelers -- the parking lot is pitch black. It doesn't feel safe.

The location was good but the TV in our room didn't work and the ice bucket in our room was full of slimy water. I could easily have overlooked these things but at 3 am on the night of our stay an argument broke out in a nearby room. After about 30 minutes of shouting the police arrived. They then proceeded to interview each person in the room one by one in the hallway so it continued to be loud. It was a room full of 17 and 18 year olds who had been both drinking and smoking marijuana in the room. Since they were talking just outside our door we heard everything including each call the officers made to the parents of anyone present under 18. After about an hour the officers told them they were just giving them a warning which seemed crazy, but they weren't my kids and I don't have knowledge of WV laws so whatever. Once the police left one of the "kids" came out in the hall and was being really loud on his phone. We lost several hours sleep do to this incident and I would have expected the hotel to at least have asked these kids to checkout instead of allowing them to stay the night and continue to disturb other guests. When I complained at the desk during checkout, the attendant said she wasn't there during the night so it had nothing to do with her. Customer service rating is zero.

Listen I stay here a lot and every time the service and commitment to how you’re treated is amazing. If I could I would go there and have the breakfast daily. The staff is amazing. Room always clean and nothing but a comfy bed when away from home could be more needed. I usually always ask where to eat so I try new things and get the best hidden gems! Night shit worker “D” is an amazing help and goes above and beyond on that breakfast wow!! If ya stay them biscuits are so fresh and the gravy you think it was home cooked without a doubt! Thanks staff for making WV feel like home in PA 💪🏻

The room was clean. Linens were nice. The staff were great!! Very friendly. Disappointed we were given a room where the air conditioning and heat unit did not work. When I advised the front desk upon checkout we were told they were aware... they had a few rooms with that problem. I feel we should have been given a discount for that as it was a chilly night. That room was not worth $100. Management needs to do some repairs and it would be worth it.

My wife have stayed here before and found it a nice place. The rooms are clean and in good condition. They have a quick breakfast and if you wish Burger king and Bob|Evans are within walking distance. The hotel is located next to the interstate for easy on and off to your location. Also a main street leads immediately into Morgantown if your wish to site see. Down the street is a shopping mall also. Inexpensive gas stations in the area.|My only complaint this time is that the TV was very hard to turn on even with new batteries. This did not happen last time. It is a nice inexpensive place and hopefully mgt will address this minor problem. thanks

Game day we came in and it was a good time we lost but traffic was kinda bad but this is right off interstate easy access!!!! Clean rooms and quiet the whole stay. Staff was great! Dee helped with a few things and gave us a great recommendation on places to eat after the game without hassle if traffic !
