New Peony Houseboats

We booked a private 1 bedroom boat and was coordinating with the owner Mr Irhaan. He is polite, soft-spoken and provided us the required facilities like room heater which is a traditional one. Food was delicious and home made and the kids enjoyed the stay at the boat and the food. View from the boat was amazing and pleasant in the morning. One thing that annoyed was the sellers who just come to the boat for selling things even if we are not OK with it. Even during the Shikara ride, these people don't allow you to enjoy the ride but surround you for buying, taking photos with the Kashmiri dress which is absolute looting. One should be knowing how to handle these guys when you don't want to buy things. So the 1 hr Shikara ride looks like cheating people when they just take you 10minutes away and stop for shopping and return. In the end you will not enjoy the ride and you will not have full 1 hr ride but get frustrated with these sellers. From accomodation perspective we enjoyed the stay but little privacy was missing as the care taker uses the kitchen and comes often inside the boat.

A quite old houseboat definitely needs some refurbishment. The owner keeps on referring to the price of the table ,etc . If they are so cautious about stuff then they should not be keeping them in Rooms . Not a good experience though when someone says it is a 40000 table please don't touch it don't keep any things on that . Need to ask for wood 🪵 multiple times to light the fire as it they use conventional method to heat the rooms . The food was good It seems it is managed through family members.

We stayed in the private house boat, this is a smaller boat, has one bedroom and a dining/living room. So the entire house boat is yours. This is parked near Nigeen Lake ghat no. 1. You can walk to the boat or take shikara. The owner is very nice and helpful. The service was top class. We had dinner and breakfast, very good food and was enough for the two of us. Nice view of Hari Parbat from the boat.

Excellent, warm and awesome father-son duo 👌 The houseboat was pretty, clean, and spacious. We were treated with extreme care and love. The host was available on one call and was always there to meet all our needs. They really contributed towards our memorable journey to Kashmir. They made us felt like home. Place is very quiet. We enjoyed complementary Shikara ride in the late afternoon. After a hectic tour, it was very much relaxing stay at houseboat. We liked their hospitality very much. Rooms are cozy. They provided tasty homemade food.

Bad owner, bad service. The owner come in to the room without knocking the door when my wife prepare to have a shower. They don't allow to lock the door from inside. The owner always stand beside and watching what we are doing such as eating, packing bag. Have no private for customer. The old owner guy are not polite, bad talking, bad acting. This very bad for foreigner. They just take care only Indian.
