Soma Birds Lagoon

We had a good stay here. The accommodations are basic, but clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our meals were very tasty and cooked to order. We particularly appreciated Jomon who was the receptionist/manager as well as the birding guide. His knowledge of the local birds, including the sounds and their habitats, was excellent. We went on two birding trips with him, where we saw many birds, that we enjoyed very much.

Although the place gives the impression of being a little tired and past its best it is set in a wonderful location assuming you have your own transport to get too and from the place. Excellent location for Bird watching trips in the nearby forests. The rooms are reasonable large and well set out and the dining area overlooks the Lagoon. Great for an early evening beer before dinner. The WiFi reception was excellent which is unusual for such a remote location and well appreciated.

We loved our stay here. The staff were very hospitable and attentive but also very discreet. The view from our room was great- so many birds. The management also kindly posted on some blouses I'd left without any charge. We really recommend this hotel for a peaceful stay off the beaten track.

Really loved this place, staff were great. Food very good. Clean bungalows although abit dated. Peace and tranquillity in abundance, hired bikes and went kayaking which was great. Nothing much to do but a hill and appreciate nature and the birds. Had an excellent stay.

We had just stayed a night here as too late to Munnar, But the location and its ambience is amazing. Polite & helpful staff, good food & service, large and clean rooms & wash rooms at affordable price. We shall back again to stay longer...||||Little more attention in maintaining the facilities will be great.

I'm a person who loves Nature, Mountain Terrains, Greenery, Waterfalls and Road Bike Drive, Soma Birds Lagoon is right in center of all this and offers spectacular experience. Resort is simply wonderful, clean and tidy and so is the staff, Justin and Jomon, who have been in this Resort for more than 14 years, are friendly, helpful and provide excellent service. Food is really good and especially Fish Fry is very tasty. I stayed for 3 days and it is one of my Best Tours. We went during Aug 2018 and right in middle of Kerala Monsoon and Flooding. I saw Nature at its very best, the heaviest down pour and spectacular view of mountains and Waterfalls. Soma Birds Lagoon is just the perfect place for a Nature Lover.

The photographs of this resort don't do it justice. It doesn't look much on the photos bit we found it was a beautiful place. Nice rooms with good facilities and lovely food.|We found the staff very attentive and service at reception and for food both excellent.|The food was very good from the restaurant. Maybe a little overpriced as there is nothing else close by but we enjoyed it very much.||A special thank you to the bird guide there who took us for an early morning birding walk around the area.||We would stay here again and for a little longer than 2 nights!|

What a stunning place ! They surely know how to pamper their guests and indulge on every single wish they might have !||The Lodge has a dreamy location on the banks of a big lilly-covered lake (and hardly any mosquitoes !!) with birds allover the place. A White-throated Kingfisher (look up the bird, it's amazing !) has its nest next to the dining area. If you don't fall in love with this place for the setting, then it will be for the great food, or for the very efficient and friendly service. But what I loved most of all were the birds in the garden ! Thank you Soma Bird Lagoon for making my holiday a success !
