★★★★Some of the reviews I read had me doubting our choice of hotel for our three days in Anchorage. My husband and I are happy that we stayed at this hotel. The room we were given was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I wish the bathroom had more counter space and breakfast wasn't one of the better hotel breakfasts we've enjoyed, but the hotel is charming and unique. It was clean and the front desk staff were personable. I would recommend this hotel.

★★★★★From the moment we walked in until we checked out, all six of us were so impressed. We got into town very early and stopped by the hotel for a lunch recommendation. They immediately told us to unload our bags and even though our rooms were not ready, she said she would get our luggage into our room as soon as they were ready. Her lunch recommendation was great and sure enough when we returned our bags were in the room. The beds were super comfortable and the hotel was beautiful. Breakfast in the morning was great as well.

NillA wonderful historic hotel in Anchorage with a fantastic location. We had a junior suite on the third floor and couldn't have been happier. Comfortable room right near the restaurants and shops with a helpful friendly staff. If you like historic hotels you will love this place. Free breakfast included but we did venture into the City for one breakfast on our own.

★★★★Good hotel in an excellent location. Comfortable bed, pillows and room. There was lots of space but the bathroom is small. For the money I would expect a modern bathroom. Breakfast had plenty of items but missing fresh fruits. Space in the breakfast area is limited during peak time. Coffee was OK. It is a very quiet hotel. All the people here are friendly and professional.

★★6 of us stayed here. It is a beautiful Victorian era hotel. During our stay, windows were open and no heat. We asked the lady at front desk about it. She said sickness is in the hotel and trying to get rid of it. 4 of us diagnosed with Covid when we returned home. Better off staying next door at the Hilton. If they new Covid was in the hotel, they should have closed.

NillThe Historic Anchorage Hotel is a gem for anyone who loves staying in a place with character and history. Located in the heart of downtown Anchorage, it’s within easy walking distance to plenty of shops, restaurants, and local attractions. Built in 1916, this hotel has been around for over a century, and staying here feels like stepping into a piece of Alaskan history. The hotel has hosted many famous visitors over the years, and some even say it's haunted—adding a bit of mystique to your stay! The lobby and bar/breakfast area are truly like a time capsule, with lots of books, photographs, and artifacts from the early days of Anchorage. You can spend time just browsing through the historic décor, which adds so much charm to the overall experience. If you enjoy learning about the places you stay, the lobby is a mini museum in itself! I stayed in room 302, which was quite spacious (except for the bathroom). The room had two beds separated by a short wall, which provided a bit of extra privacy—a nice touch if you're sharing a room. There was also plenty of seating and large windows that looked out onto E Street, giving a nice view of the downtown area. While the historic nature of the hotel is a draw, the street noise might be a consideration for light sleepers. It's not overly loud, but you do hear some traffic and occasional and city sounds including a nearby train, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a sensitive sleeper. The hotel does offer a basic complimentary breakfast, which is similar to what you'd find at a budget chain hotel. Unfortunately, the coffee was quite weak, almost like tea, so if you’re a coffee lover, you may prefer grabbing a cup from one of the nearby local cafés instead. Parking is a bit limited, but the hotel does offer some options nearby for a fee. Overall, this hotel is a great choice for those who appreciate staying in a historic property. It’s not overly modern or luxurious, but its location, unique charm, and vintage furnishings make it a memorable place to stay. Just don’t come expecting a gourmet breakfast or modern amenities—you stay here for the history and the experience of being part of old Anchorage!

★★★★★Terri met us at our taxi door and welcomed us as our host. She was so much help and we thank her for telling us which Brew Pup was the best. We also dined at her second choice to prove Terri had them in right order. We rode a local well informed tour on the trolley that starts around the corner at the visitor center. Great ticket agents on the sidewalk in front.
