The Gathering Place

We had a wonderful time at the Gathering Place in Miner's cabin #3! A small, quaint cabin, it was all we needed to enjoy the beautiful Alaskan landscape! Our hosts were extremely welcoming, helpful, and inclusive (they invited us to join their campfire)! The washroom facilities were great and just a short walk up the hill. We would 100% recommend this place to anyone passing through Haines, especially if you are travelling on a budget. The cost per night was extremely affordable. Thank you, again, for being such wonderful hosts!

I absolutely love this place and would go back in a heart beat! The site has an amazing view of the fjord with an extremely reasonable price. It is close to town but a safe distance from wildlife. I was a little nervous as I'm an Irish female camping on my own but I felt really safe. Best of all the people who stayed there, and the owners Frank and Sherri were so welcoming and kind. Great place and great people! 🇮🇪❤️🇺🇸

Just love this place for so many reasons.||Cheri and Frank are wonderful hosts. Any questions can be taken to them and they go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and happy. ||||The cabins are perfect for family. There is a separate bedroom as well as a loft-kids love that!- and a pull out couch as well as a proper bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. ||||The views can't be beat! Great location, a bit out of town for serenity but close enough for services.||||I'll be back!

I had furnished Cabin #2 for a 2 night stay. This was my first stay at this location and it was perfect!||||Nicely equipped kitchenette and a fire pit outside that can be used for BBQ or evening entertainment when fire hazard is low. Comfortable sleeps 5 with a private double bedroom downstairs and a loft. There is a futon in the living area where a 6th person could sleep in a pinch.||||These cabins overlook the sound with a porch you can sit and enjoy the sunset on with a nice beverage and dinner. At night, you can hear the fish jumping and the stars are bright. ||||My host, Frank, was very nice and helpful and made sure I was comfortable. This is a great location being only minutes away from the weir the bears come to fish at in the fall. ||||There is a TV and DVD player all set up to play the provided DVDs as well as some good reading material. Bring food and shampoo and you are all set.||||Will definitly be going back!!
